Again, Showtime passed on Kovalev-Hopkins, only to go ahead and approve Murat-Hopkins.... Why no outrage there?

If showtime won't let an HBO fighter (HBO knew it was gonna sign Kovalev) on showtime, why is HBO obligated to approve a showtime fighter versus their fighter?

Stop the hypocrisy. Showtime/gbp was going to have Hopkins vacate his title and fight cleverly so a potential HBO fighter doesn't come on showtime and take their fighters belt, ALL while wanting to continue with Bum ass Murat-Hopkins.

Everyone on here bashing HBO, should really read this post and understand that this is coming frm BOTH sides, and showtime/gbp are arguably the worst of the bunch.

    Ridiculous....

    • Everytkme someone says HBO passed on Hopkins-Strvenson to make Stevenson-cloud, I'm just going to say showtime passed on Kovalev-Hopkins to make Hopkins-Murat

Which by the way, happened BEFORE HBO rejected Hopkins-Stevenson. These promotional fanboys are absolutely mind boggling.....

      Get your facts straight

GBP is trying to monopolize boxing and turn this **** into UFC. They approve bum ass euros for their fighters to cherry pick and make title defenses against, Murat, lee Purdy, Gavin Rees (who????) but when a legit, dangerous and live opponent gets the nod to become mandatory (Kovalev) they'd rather their fighter vacate. I can't believe people are buying into this bull****. HBO is working with ALL promotional companies to make the best fights possible. Meanwhile showtime is hyping up broner vs Gavin Rees and paulie m.... And Hopkins versus Murat, but when Kovalev comes along, SORRY NOT INTERESTED!

Come on now. Don't forget, GBP didnt willingly leave HBO, HBO dropped and stopped working with them for a reason..... Now everyone here wants to make HBO out to be the big bad guy without knowing wth they're talking about. NSB: where blind promotional company fanboy ism happens.....

People don't get hbo just for boxing they have shows that attract intrest not just fights. The proof of that is In the fact that have more subscribers then show time and still put on **** fights hbo will always do better its history is longer and they have better programming people go with what they know and nine times outta ten follow what everyone else is doing and hbo is and always has been the way to go. Show time won't be ahead in boxing forever because golden boy will start doing the same **** to show time they did to hbo start making crap fights and show time will get tired of it and they'll send em packing. For awhile hbo's cards were always better too it's a off and on cycle.

        • Where is the email??? Schaefer could talk all he wants but he can't fool some of us. GBP former attorney is running Showtime Sports and that only makes me presume that GBP actions are not well intended.

            • goldenboy and al hayman are a bunch of leaches. showtime is going to start feeling the pain. the numbers don't add up, how can millions of dollars be put out for crappy viewership. Viewership has not gone up on showtime but they are spending more money. the show time ship is going to start sinking very soon.

When HBO sc****s by with a million or less it is considered poor. When SHO does it, it is pretty eye catching because they have such a smaller audience and they are starting to be consistent with these numbers.
So when Showtime averages 500k viewers per event that's good because it's a ****ty network? I don't get it.

HBO averages about twice what Showtime averages if you look at the numbers. Does it have twice the number of subscribers? Nope.

HBO has 28 million, Showtime has 22 million.
