No.
HBO is still butt hurt but they'll get over it. There's a finite amount of times that Rios can fight Alvarado and buying Paul Spadafora/ Zou Shiming fights ain't getting anyone excited.Comment

Can't give fans what they want if your business isn't profitable and successful. Networks don't invest in fighters or fights that are great-they invest in fighters and fights that get high ratings.Comment

Sure but it's not all in the promotion. You're pretty much tapping the same audience with major ppvs, and at some point buyer fatigue kicks in when it's one no hoper after another. I don't think Canelo has much hope, but some people do, so in that sense it was a necessary move to reverse the momentum asap.all depends on the effort made to promote it. if floyd fights devon or khan-he's got to get out there and sell it like he did the ODH fight.
if he fights broner/cotto 2 /canelo 2-then its completely different.
But it all depends on what happens next. No one believed floyd odh would 2.4 mil. Imagine if floyd canelo equals or tops that? I don't think it will.Comment

And Nathan Cleverly brings in bigger ratings then Hopkins? How about picking Daniel Geale over Broner? This forum is full of boxing fans and I bet less then 10% has watched Daniel Geale fight.
It's arrogance the reason HBO is still butthurt, they are supposed to have everyone sucking up to them so now their pride is hurt.Comment

Any intelligent business knows that you never make decisions off of emotion and right now HBO is emotional. Showtime is the new powerhouse for boxing. HBO needs to put their personal issues aside and do what's best for the boxing fans. If not, they could lose a lot of subscribers.Comment

Nobody gives a $h1t about boxing, it's a drop in the bucket for both networks. Well not for Showtime, it's losing pretty good money on it

it's purely business. hbo will not make any business with gbp right now because they know for a fact that gbp is in bed with their competitor. the only reason schaefer is bringing hopkins to hbo is because they want to fight a fighter who is exclusive to hbo. if stevenson can fight under showtime, schaefer would not bother one bit to contact hbo.Comment
