The ideal match-ups: Garcia/Matthysse, Broner/Maidana. If we can't get that, then Broner/Garcia (WBA), Matthysse/Postol (WBC) and Maidana vs. the winner of Chaves/Thurman are good alternatives.

Honestly, I'm good with any combination of Broner, Garcia, Matthysse, and Maidana.

Its not gonna happen this year because Broner shot his mouth off and Matthysse is running away with the poll with Maidana a distant second. Schaefer wants Broner-Maidana, so that's likely the fight we're gonna get. And my guess is he's gonna keep Danny on ice and serve him up to Broner next spring/summer.

Of course, that's gonna leave Matthysse out in the cold. If that's the case, Provodnikov makes the most sense for Lucas.

Leaving Matthysse out in the cold would be a contradiction with all the promotion Matty got from GBP after his Peterson fight. It wouldn't make sense.

Its business homie. Its not guys like Mayweather and Broner's fault that they're popular. Just like it's a not a guy like Matthysse's fault that he has ZERO crossover potential. And likewise, while not the most noble thing, its not Garcia's fault that the guy everyone wants to see him fight probably isn't the best move for his career right now. Boxing is how he makes his living. And who am I to criticize him for not doing what's in his best interest to make the most money possible in a profession where you have a very small window of time to make big money?

Matthysse/Maidana is an emergency match-up imo. When they have no other options or both are coming off losses, just throw them together and they'll produce fireworks. If GBP cares about them, they won't make that match-up right now.

Not really. Mayweather, Pacquaio, and DLH are the latest examples of crossover stars. And the only one with big time power was Pac, and his power is overrated. Charisma is the most important thing. That's what Floyd has. DLH had looks, which are also important. Pac was fortunate enough to break through as the anti-Floyd. Matthysse doesn't really have anything about him that's gonna move the needle. The only young fighter out there now that's stands out and makes non-boxing fans wanna see him is Broner. Guys like Matthysse are a dime a dozen. Boxing is littered with punchers that didn't cross over.

Hope you're right, I think they'll have to give Lucas a really good alternative if they can't make it happen, although it's hard to think what it would be.

If Garcia ducks this fight, I don't think there should be any limits to the venom sent his way. We should all be exhibiting the kind of blind, borderline psychotic hatred dan_cov had on the go before the Rigo/Donaire fight. I'll be doing my part, it'll be fully deserved.

Pac broked through because he was exciting as hell, and because he had already gained huge exposure through his battles with two legendary Mexican superstars in Barrera and Morales.

When he got on the main stage vs Oscar he looked a million bucks and gained millions of fans in one night. The Floyd stuff came later.
