Comments Thread For: Arum Explains Handling of Marquez-Bradley Drug Testing

Despite the battle going on with Juan Manuel Marquez and Timothy Bradley regarding the random drug testing and 10 pound rehydration clause, Bob Arum was able to shed some light on how the drug testing will be conducted for this fight.

All major fights that have incorporated random style drug testing up until now have used an outside agency with either USADA or VADA getting the call. Arum has long told this scribe that he never believed the promoter should be involved and it should be the commission who should be in charge of having the testing done should the fighters request it. Top Rank’ CEO and founder’s stance has not changed and in fact, he will finally put his plan into use. [Click Here To Read More]

Just let those who have the capacity to do extensive tests do extensive tests. If the commission don't have the capacity why engage them.

Even if, let's say, he isn't the least bit involved besides the checks to pay for the testing, I wouldn't trust NSAC to handle this either.

So...no VADA/USADA, just Nevada State Commission testing?

it sounds like the commission will attempt to do VADA/USADA style testing.

                  This should be good.

A cynic might suggest this is the only way they could get Marquez to agree (since it appears he's not keen on VADA).

Imo Bradley should push for Vada or no fight.
