Where was what discussed? Calzage was talked about as a potential opponent for Jones and Hopkins for years, long before he actually fought them. That's why he was criticized for never coming over here to fight them, "in their primes." Ottke was never talked about as a potential opponent for either because he wasn't the class of the super middleweight division. I think that's pretty common knowledge.

This isn't true, Froch said he'd be willing to fight Hopkins at 171 or 172lbs. Froch tried to make the Hopkins fight in 2011.
It's Hearn that doesn't want him to fight Hopkins, Cleverly or Ward right now. Hearn didn't want him to fight Bute either but Froch said a lesser fight wouldn't motivate him.Comment

I give credit to all of them. Particularly those willing to travel.
You should really be more appreciative of Froch.
After Pascal he fights jermain Taylor in Taylor's backyard. Many promotors would have ensured an easy defence for their fighter as a first fight after winning a belt.
After the s6 again Froch could have taken an easy fight after a grueling schedule and yet he elects to sign not one but two fights with the best available fighter in undefeated Lucian Bute.
I don't understand your hate. I simply don't.Comment

The Bute fight was the kind of opportunity that fighters don't get when they're coming off a loss. When you get dominated, lose your belt, and then a big payday falls on your lap, what do you do? Especially if you're in your mid 30s and you don't have much time left in the sport.
Again, I wanna make it clear that I don't hate Froch or even criticize him (he's a warrior who comes to fight, much respect), I just wanted to kill this myth that he chases the toughest opposition. Hell, the thread title alone should kill it.Comment

What years are you talking about here? When Ottke fought I don't recall talks about these guys as opponents for Calzaghe anywhere but in Frank Warren's head. I recall more talks about Calzaghe fighting Ottke, but nobody wanted to leave home.
I thought that was common knowledge.Comment

Except it was Hopkins who proposed the catchweight. As I said, Froch already tried to make the fight years ago.Comment
