I could see Money winning a 160-pound crown before he retires, whoever it might be against.

Mayweather is not even a big Welterweight.

There is no way he fights at 160.

I can't see Cotto beating Martinez (i hate to say) but you never know, neither of them are spring chickens now and if Cotto caught Martinez good a few times hmmm...
His defense wouldn't fare well at all too Martinez output, speed, power, movement. Thats what makes me favour Martinez.

I could definitely see Mayweather winning a strap at 160 very realistically, supposing he chooses to do so. But it would have to be a weak holder or if a big level name at 160 then catch them at the right 'time' if anyone gets that (stay fresh as possible with his style and let them 'wear')...
He wouldn't come in over 154/55 ever i don't think (if that) if he fought at 160, they would have a very very large size advantage....

If he did go for it i don't think it'd be in the next couple of years, possibly his penultimate/last fight. Just imo.

You say if he did win it it would be against a weak holder. who would be better then fighting Cotto, the guy who beat the Lineal Champ at 160 (Even though he's a shadow of his old self), and gave him the hardest fight in recent years. You guys fail to understand how realistic this matchup may be.

Yeah i guess so, i was never in the mindframe of May-Cotto2 wouldn't happen, only because of people like GGG or Martinez in the 160 scene (not sayin' May couldn't beat them, diff topic) but would Cotto? He's gotta get around Bundrage first (if it happens/is it on/off?), then what if Cotto takes up Canelo after?

Absolutely Cotto and May fight again, but i doubt it personally (if we're talkin 160 here).

(i might have completely misunderstood what you where getting at though thus blabbed on,drunk/ tired) Peace.

Lol it's cool bro. But if Cotto does beat Martinez (Assuming he beats K9 which he should) I don't think he will stay at 160. I think it would just be a I am now a 4 division champ type win. He would clearly be demolished by the top Middleweights (Quillin, Chavez Jr., Geale, GGG)

I think Martinez will beat the hell out of Cotto at 160 or a catchweight of 157. I also think if Martinez fights Cotto instead of a top middleweight like GGG, Pirog, Quillin or Geale then he is a real chicken champ. He has avoided these guys long enough. Third if Canelo has to beg Mayweather to defend his 154 pound WBA superchanp title at a catchweight of 152 then Mayweather won't fight a top middleweight at anything over 152 pounds. If by some miracle Cotto won a world title at 160 he would be the weakest of all the 160 pound belt holders. If Mayweather beat up Cotto again at 160 and tried to claim he was the best 160 pound fighter in the world no fight fan would buy it.

I just read on boxing scene top headlines that Martinez will take a full year off and return in April 2014. His most likely opponent will indeed be Cotto. Martinez won the title from Pavlic in 2010.This will make 4 years that he has not fought any of the top 3 middleweights in the world. He is win over Chavez was a good win but one top guy in 4 years stinks. Hagler used to fight the top contenders 4 times a year. Anybody can see it anyway they want. To me the real middleweight championship of the world is vacant and Martinez is no longer even in the top 4. Geale, Pirog, GGG, Quillin and the Englishman that just "lost" to Martinez would be in the running for the true middleweight champ.Anyone that beats one of these five guys would also be in the mix.Martinez has taken the middleweight title hostage and is using it for his retirement plan. World titles should be won or lost in the ring but if the champ won't fight anybody good then how long is he really the champ. Losing two fights in a row at 154 and then beating Bumrage earns Cotto a shot at the world's middleweight title????

I'm fairly comfortable in saying I think P Will, Pavlik, Macklin, Jr all would beat Cotto at 160.

Martinez without a hand or knee injury during the fight would stop Cotto. :/.... S hit i dont even think Cotto beats him at 154 either.
