The brothers team (Mike and Robert) is what makes people want to see
Mikey's fights. I for one have been following this team for a long while now.

1.3 million views isn't a lot considering it was free. Several PPVs in the past decade have cost 50-60 dollars and had over 1.3M buys.

As good as 1.3 mil viewers is that's less than Broners last fight on HBO against Galvin Rees. That's also less than Berto vs Victor Ortiz. HBO does have 5 million more subscribers than Showtime. So you cant judge number for number. You have to go by the increase on the separate networks. 1.3 mil is more than what Canelo vs Trout did on Showtime. Yet it was the highest rated fight on ShoBox.

Yep, it's nothing special, but it's amazing compared to the Maidana Lopez numbers, way out of proportion to the subscriber base

Not to mention HBO was free this past weekend on several providers.

Excellent numbers but it was more of a perfect storm going on here.

Juanma - Big PR following who moved the needle.
Batman - Huge movie is a good lead in to attract viewers who might not change the CH.
Free Preview weekend - Berto and Ortiz never brought big ratings but did so on a free preview weekend doing 1.5m.

Overall it was a excellent numbers considering how terrible Garcia vs. Salido did, that fight was the main event and did less ratings than the GGG fight before the main event. (760,000)

Why are people surprised? It was a Mexican against a Puerto Rican in a title fight. Of course is going to do big numbers. It got nothing to do with Garcia or Juanma its just a Mexican-Rican thing.

^^^This, I didn't know HBO was free until the day of the fight. I download movies from the Net, so I don't bother getting any movie channels.
