I respect this. In ten yers people will look at his record and see wins over David Tua, Vitali Klitscko, Evander Holyfield..etc
and be impressed and in retrospect they are good wins.
But, for us who'll remember the featherfisted bartlerbee, we'll be glad he is gone and an end to the guys boring drawn out matches ( i won't say `fights` ).

Byrd is certainly not a big puncher as we all know, but i believe he has more power than some people think, he looks to have some good solid body shots, thats part of the reason he's succesful, he slows his opponents down with those shots, even the iron chinned Tua looked a bit distressed with those body shots taking their toll.

I respect his defense skills at time but he could do more. Pernell Whitiker, never a puncher, would at least sometimes to achieve a KO. Byrd seems nowadays to lay back and make no effort to force a fight. His defence, as brillant as it is, ruins the entertainment of boxing!

Why do you folks sit here and trash an outstanding athlete and a gracious sportsman? Have you nothing else to do?

I don't agree, styles make fights, and it's always intriguing to see if his opponent can break the ''lock'', to this point the Klitschko's have been the only boxers to have truly outboxed him, although contary to popular belief Ike was winning the fight when he stopped Byrd. Byrd's been in some fun fights, his fight with Holyfield was a fun fight, Evander atually did very well towards the end of that fight.

a gracious sportsman? the way he talks about his opponents and his fellow champions? your an idiot, as usual.

outstanding athlete? the only thing outstanding about him is how excruciatingly boring he is. your an idiiot, again.

have you no knowledge of boxing? oh wait, no you dont.
