  • Mikey Garcia is pound 4 pound

Ok, before you guys jump on me, let me explain why I think this way. Since becoming a trainer, I see the game from a different perspective. I see it from the outside in, instead of inside out, if that makes any sense.

I talk with the head trainer of my gym after every fight on Sunday and we discuss what we saw. I can't tell you how impressive Mikey is right now.

First off, his patience is unbelievable for a young fighter. He doesn't take many risks and the one's he does take are very calculated. Now some of you will say that JuanMa is done and that it's not an impressive win, but it's HOW he won that is so impressive.

JuanMa can still punch and is a tough dude, and Mikey played with him. Literally played with him for 4 rounds. He landed when he wanted to, set him up with the lead left hook early on to take away the right hand jab and then timed him later with the 1-2.

Mikey does subtle things that are really difficult to see and I can tell you the kid is EXTREMELY well trained. He is really taught well in the fundamentals and thinks in the ring, not just react.

He can punch, take a punch, has decent speed, is very accurate and is very smart. I think with his counter punching style, he will be a nightmare for anyone in that weight class.

Salido is a very tough opponent to deal with because of his pressure and style, Mikey just picked him apart. JuanMa may not be the same fighter he once was, but Mikey just toyed with him.

I believe Mikey is a pound for pound fighter right now. He's way ahead of where he should be for his age, he's a seasoned pro and looks like he's been fighting for 20 years.

At what number? Also he needs to build the resume before he deserves to be there.

I would say top 10 at least. Don't know a number but this kid is so impressive to me.

I have him outside the top ten hanging with Broner in the top 15-20.

He'll be in the top ten soon enough, But not before he earns in the ring.

Mikey is my dude after floyd but I can't put him there just yet. While I agree salido is tough-JuanMa has always been extremely over rated to me. Mikey should've beaten him as easily as he did.

beat martinez and burgos (who I and many think beat martinez) and then I could see him top 12-15.

I'll wait until he gets a good win before thinking about it.

Some people don't have Froch on their list despite wins over guys like Pascal, Kessler, Bute, etc...Mikey's best win is an old Salido, and it was called off for a headbutt just as it was heating up.

Very talented, but definitely not there yet.

He really impresses me as well, and it's a real pleasure to watch him work, but he can't be ranked there yet.

I think he's a very skilled fighter, but his resume at this point is not P4P material just yet. Think he should try to fight Gamboa one day, that's a very winnable and high profile fight for him.

IMO, he's not. Good performances but this version of JuanMa wasn't anything to put him in the top ten
