News Release
This morning upsideyourhead.com was informed that the upcoming fight between Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins and Karo "Who The ****?" Murat had been cancelled due to Visa problems.
Murat, who hails from some godforsaken country on the other side of the world, will appeal the decision but it is apparent that the appeals process will be prolonged and therefore the decision was made to cancel the fight.
When the news reached the internet this morning boxing fans immediately began piling into the streets throughout the country celebrating the cancellation of a potentially atrocious fight that nobody other than the challenger cared about.
Richard Schaeffer, promoter of Hopkins, was giddy when we spoke to him. "Look you know, it's tough luck for what's his face, but we gotta move on. We have some opportunities out there that are bigger than the fight. We could make any number of fights between Bernard and fighters whose names I can remember by heart".
Hopkins, as usual, was mum on the topic. "Look I don't even know who this guy is so how can I be upset?? Oscar just asked me if I wanted an easy fight against one of those European guys with the weird names and pretty little records and I said yeah, bring him on, let me get up in that @ss one time."
Boxing fan Ronald Swinton, of Minneapolis, MN had an explanation for what brought about the merciful cancellation of a dreadful match.
"When I heard that this fight was made I was distraught. It was the worst idea I had heard since my ex wife proposed turning our 9 year old daughter into a whore back in '08. I got down on my knees that night and prayed to the good lord that he would cancel this fight and save me from the pain. Save all of us boxing fans from the pain. I know now that God hears prayers. He is a good and merciful God and he loves boxing fans."
