Should Floyd Mayweather jr be credited for boxing's resurgence?

The sport of Boxing has seen a resurgence over the past few years..when at the time(2005-06) some analysts thought that boxing won't be a mainstream sport within some years...boxing ppv's have been outselling ufc ppv's by miles

Floyd Mayweather jr is the biggest name in the sport today..should he be credited with boxing's resurgence?

No oscar de la hoya should get the credit...

He brought the masses to the floyd fight and turned floyd from a boxing star into a mainstream star

Then oscar did the same with manny...

Without oscar, Floyd is still a 300,000-400,000 ppv buys fighter like he was with baldomir, zab, gatti...

Manny would probably be still at the lower weights...

Getting victories over oscar propelled both guys into superstardom, much like how oscar fought old chavez and propelled him into superstardom

Hopefully manny and floyd will pass the torch one day....
Floyd vs canelo is a good start

No all the good fights being made gets the credit. No fighters in particular.

no, Cherrypicker has made it worse by not fighting the toughest fights he could find. instead of fighting guys like Margarito, Cotto, Pac in their primes, he rather fake a retirement, go to jail, fight handpicked opponents. can't deny his talent or skill, but his resume doesn't measure up to his talent and skill
