  • Comments Thread For: Chad Dawson on TKO Loss: It Was a Punch I Didn't See

Even with a championship belt around his waist and the scent of pound-for-pound credentials, Chad Dawson’s career has always served as the proverbial man without a country. The supremely talented light heavyweight served among the best in his division for the past seven years, but was never able to capture the imagination of viewing audiences.

Now without a championship belt after a shocking 1st round knockout loss to Adonis Stevenson in the challenger’s adopted homeland of Canada, Dawson finds himself at a major crossroads in his career.

I don't think he's finished as there are good fighters out there that he can beat. Fights with Pacal, Bute, Hopkins, Cloud, Campillo, Kovalev, Cleverley, Shumenov etc. not saying he beats all of them but people would watch the fight and if he won he'd be back to being considered one of the top guys in the division.

He's been stopped in consecutive fights, once by a fighter with NO power and the other following the first solid shot landed by a big puncher.

That is bone china, people. Denial is nonsensical.....that punch didn't even land cleanly on Chad's chin and he was gone.

      He is finished!!!!

Dawson should have never been in close range for Stevenson to land that punch

Surely the logical fight is to chase a rematch with Stevenson. If not that, then he may as well retire.

I'm surprised he didn't blame his trainer for this one.

I like Max Kellerman for his knowledge and boxing IQ but he is a horrible interviewer. I think he is getting worse as time goes by. I don't know if you can take classes but he needs them. Merchant was biased and what not but at least he said something without looking lost on live tv. He needs to learn to take the emotion out of it. I know he must of felt bed for Chad(pardon the pun) but he could have asked him something more. Do you think you could have continued? What do you think you will do after such a tough loss? Something.

I'll have to rewatch the fight, but I think Dawson was hit in the same spot Price was when he lost.
