In part, showing resilience and heart in rising from the canvass twice versus a relentless, hard hitting opponent, and breaking his face. But don't worry, once "Nelo" loses to Floyd, we'll soon see him against guys like Lara. He won't be so valuable anymore.

Let me ask you, what makes Alvarez so good? His win over Trout?

I'm not saying that Canelo can't beat Lara. I'm saying that Lara won't fight in the same manner that Trout did because they are two different fighters. Trout is an offensive-minded boxer that does a lot of his work off the jab, while Lara is a counter-puncher that likes to use the ring. Trout has a higher work-rate, Lara has higher accuracy. Trout is taller and seems physically stronger, while Lara is faster and seems to have more power. They also operate differently on the inside.

All I'm saying is, I won't analyze Canelo/Lara by looking to Canelo/Trout because the fights will most likely look different. I don't think Canelo can/will fight Trout the same way he fights Lara.

If Lara doesn't go on the ropes, then he would completely outboxes Canelo in the center of the ring. Trout tagged Canelo a few times with the straight left hand and he's nowhere near a pure technician as Lara.

More than 50% of the people will tell you Canelo didn't even beat Trout so that's nothing to brag about.

These same guys claiming Canelo beat Trout will turn around and say Lara lost to Molina.

Yeah I don't think this thread worked out the way TS thought it would.

I give "Canelo" credit for that win, but beating Trout isn't an amazing feat. Lara may or may not beat Alvarez, but from what I saw tonight, Saul would definitely be tested. Believing that, because Erislandy had trouble with Angulo, Alvarez should be favored is just flawed thinking.

Lara's left hand is lethal. For the first time we saw if Lara was vulnerable to hard shots. I think Perro hit him more with cumulative punishment over the course of the fight, but it showed that he can be knocked down and hurt.

I agree with the above posters that you can't really compare the fight tonight and the trout fight and find a winner. Canelo would probably employ a different technique against Lara than he did against trout due to their different styles and strengths.

I would let Canelo mature a bit more before I put him in there with Lara (maybe 2-3 years from now). Lara is a crazy good athlete and technician with significant power. It's a dangerous fight with very little upside for Canelo.
