I didn't think the fight was impressive on Gamboa's part. I like Darley and I think he did enough to earn a draw. He should have been credited for the kd also.

You're aware Vasquez was offered the fight last night instead of Perez, yes?

Vasquez turned that fight down, not Gamboa.

Gamboa is a KO waiting to happen. He has all the skills to be great but his discipline is not there. Hope he gets it together so we can add him to the list of Elite fighters and make some good matchups happen

He's fighting way above his frame, and it's a problem.

At 126 his height was fine, he more than made up for it with his speed, power and general talent. Up at 135, the power isn't as devastating, the guys are much taller making his size an issue, and he's also basically training himself.

126, 130 at a push, is where he belongs and where he can get back to smashing through guys.

Gamboa is the best 126 to 135lb, he can go down a take anybody.

Gamboa Moved up to 130 and took a guy with 27 KOs and dominated him, moved up to 135lb and too a guy PanAmerican Champion in the Olympics with 28 - 0 (19KOs) pro record and dominated him.

This is like Mayweather been a natural 147lb take the best @ 154lb (Canelo) and 160lb (Martinez).

Yes, Gamboa need a good promoter with good ideas to keep him busy with the right opponents.

+1. I think he's way too small for 135 as well. He should hire a nutritionist or tighten up his diet to lose those 5 pounds.

I think Gamboa's arms are too short to fight that kind of style at 135.

If he stays at 135 he's going to need to figure out a way to be more aggressive, explosive and put combos together like he used to, not that 1 or 2 pot shotting **** he did last night.

Regardless, highly disapointed with Gamboa the past year or two.

I'm really disappointed in Gamboa. It wasn't so long ago that he was my favorite Cuban boxer, by far. After his performance last night, and Lara's, they've switched places on my list. I never thought that day would ever come, but it's here. Funny how the world turns. With that said, it's also possible that Yuri rights the ship. We can only hope....

Gamboa was plain awful -- did almost nothing after the 5th round against a game but limited and much too cautious opponent -- can anyone say that he conclusively won ANY round after the 5th? -- I've seen enough of him....

Yuri was leading the way for the current crop of Cuban fighters, but now his contemporaries (Lara and Rigo) are beginning to surpass him. I think this is due to two factors: Lara/Rigo have a more efficient style compared to Gamboa's flashier and exciting style, and Gamboa is fighting in a division that doesn't suit his size. In an ideal world, Yuri would stay at 126-130 without being weight-drained for his entire career and be known as one of the best little fighters in the sport. I haven't seen his fight against Perez yet, but I'm not too excited based on what I've heard so far.
