Yuri's current trainer, his dad, Carlos Gamboa is not doing him any good imo.
Gamboa looked awful tonight, it almost reminded me of a Kelly Pavlik-Alfonso Lopez fight, where a fighter past his best won a decision simply by not losing-but not doing much meaningful work of his own. He should really move back down to 130, or even 126 if he can still make it, he hasn't looked impressive since his win over Ponce in 2011

It would probably suit him best but I don't think it does his career any good now

Zomboa looked like the Walking Dead just a horrible performance Perez is decent and has some ability but doesn't seem to be on that level if Gamboa had stepped up his attack.

As expected, 135 is too big for Gamboa.

His speed is still fantastic, but it really takes his power down. 130 was already high, 135 is too far.

That had nothing to do with weight Gamboa unofficial weight for this fight was lower than for the Farenas fight where he looked a lot faster and more aggressive. He could of stopped Perez just about anytime if he had been prepared properly.

I scored this fight a draw, with the Charlo/D-Hop fight, for worst fight I've had to sit through in months.

Unofficial weight doesn't really matter to me, he's simply packing too much muscle onto a small frame to try and look and feel like a 135 fighter. At 130, it had an impact, moving up again to 135 isn't doing him any favours.

I think he's put too much size on now and wont be able to safely get back down. He's going to be stuck up at this weight.

Wow what a wonderful fight! Want to say a big thanks to both fighters for putting on such a performance, it literally sent me to sleep so missed Angulo vs Lara, Maidana vs Lopez and Dawson vs Stevenson. Thanks again guys...
