Comments Thread For: Groves: I Apologize To Froch, But He's in My Way!

Super middleweight contender George Groves (19-0, 15KOs) has his sights set on a big showdown with IBF/WBA champion Carl Froch (31-2, 22KOs). Froch has grown quite angry with some of Groves' comments, where the young contender demands a crack at the titles. Froch has told Groves to beat some better opponents, although their mutual promoter Eddie Hearn is looking to match them up next summer.

Froch called out an aging Calzaghe and has denigrated him, and now Groves and Degale are doing the same, Karma eh?

Froch would not shut the fuck up about Calzaghe, borderline embarrassing at the time. Still, I think he'll at least give Groves and/or DeGale a crack at him, don't think the Cobra has too many miles left and hopefully this does happen next year.

Would like to see Groves fight Abraham in September, he needs a big fight this year at least.

I understand where Carl is coming from his trying to build a legacy before retiring but he must remember Joe was in the same position when he broke onto the scene and the disrespect he shows's Calzaghe by doing the same to Groves makes me laugh so if he does'nt give Groves a shot he is a hypocrit - his done this to himself.

erm, Carl Froch was the number 1 ranked fighter with the WBC at the time. He was Calzaghe's mandatory. Not quite the same.

Groves should be calling out Steiglitz. Degale should just shut the **** up.

I think Groves is spot on, I like his attitude and I'm starting to warm to him more.

I'd like to see Groves/Froch in the next 2-3 fights of Carl, but Groves has to beat a ranked top 10 contender. An Abraham/Bika type.

In regards to the Calzaghe comparision, i agree the constant chasing was tedious from Carl, but the difference was Froch was Joe's MANDATORY, and at 168 he didn't have many other options, so he went to 175 for Hopkins which i respect. It wasn't a duck though on Joe's behalf, Froch wasn't anywhere near the pull he is now, and Calzaghe was at the twilight of his career and was looking for the huge paydays with Jones and Hopkins.

The tards on this board seem to have shit memories in that regard.

Froch was calling out Calzaghe loooooong before he became mandatory.

Froch was ****ing on about Calzaghe before he became mandatory, then, little known Nottingham-bred fighter becomes mandatory for one of the best P4P fighters on the planet and increases the calling out. Far, far worse than anything Groves & DeGale have done, yet he's the one getting upset.

This forum was drowning in Froch calls out Calzaghe threads at one point.
