They are friends from when they first started boxing, even lived together for some time, hitch hiked together in the back of pickup trucks when going to fights in small towns across the provinces in Argentina, all their belongings in just a gym bag and sleeping in the floor of the house of whoever was kind enough to take them in.
I wouldnt want to fight a friend either. Both said that they are pros and would fight each other if they had to, that they didnt have a problem with that, but you could tell by the voice and faces that they didnt look forward to it and would rather fight someone else.

THey've fought 4 times in the Amateurs. Maidana won 3 and had a draw in 1.
