Never again
Will we ever see a fighter like Roy Jones again?

I would love to hear this one too.Comment

Looking at that again you can see just how much of a confidence player Roy was and how much he depended on getting in the "zone." Hamed was the same way. As soon as they tasted real defeat and were confronted with their own humanity it was instant Kryptonite.Comment

None whatsoever, but it SHOULD have a bearing on whether or not he's considered a great. We'll never know how good he really was, because we'll never know how much he doped. That's why he shouldn't be considered a great or inducted into the HOF, regardless of his achievements.
Care to prove such a bold claim?Comment

Roy was 36 when he actually lost. Name me all of the 36 yr old successful boxers please.
He was too drained and should have retired after the first Tarver fight. Fighting Ruiz, then dropping 30 pounds to fight Tarver was something he didn't have to do, but his fighting spirit allowed him to.
People forget he won the first fight.Comment

He took a supplement called Ripped fuel (Richard Hall also tested positive for it at a higher dose) it was a new supplement widely sold in supplement stores and not illegal. The FDA got on it as it contained Ephedra I believe and put it on the banned substance list, both fighters still had it in their system thus failing.
When it comes to instances like this or Dillian Whytes Jack3d ban, I can't help but feel for the athlete. Its not as if they intentionally tried to cheat.Comment

Exactly. Wasn't it only banned by the IBF or something too? IBF banning protein would've made Jones a cheat as well then.He took a supplement called Ripped fuel (Richard Hall also tested positive for it at a higher dose) it was a new supplement widely sold in supplement stores and not illegal. I don't believe this. After the Ruiz fight and dropping down all that weight after bulking up for heavyweight is what ended the "Superman" era.Originally posted by Anderson SilvaHe was awesome, but it was just a matter of time till someone studied his flaws and exploited them. That's why after he was KO'd he was never the same again, people saw right through him.
He was so great because he was so fast and could barely ever be touched in his prime. Like Whitaker it was all speed and reflex defending shots not technique like the Philly shell with Floyd. Floyd gets cornered and shoulder rolls the shots while Per ell and Roy just moved their head out the way while making you eat a shot.
But once Roy lost a step and started getting touched he was done. If you don't agree please name how Jones was "exploited".
