People are saying Froch is great based on beating a few top guys in one division while losing to perhaps the best guy. Joe beat all the best guys and even the ones that people thought he would get KTFO against (Lacy). People are quick to discredit Lacy but remember before the Calzaghe fight, he was a beast, a monster, a favorite over Joe and most of the experts picked Lacy by KO.

He took Kessler's 0 and beat up on a Bika who only had 1 loss at the time. Kessler is the guy that people use to substantiate how great Froch and Ward are but conveniently leave him out or forget about him when it comes to Calzaghe.....I swear, the guy gets less credit than any GREAT boxer out there. The sad thing is, he would have badly embarrassed both Ward and Foch in a fight.
WBO champ LOL give me a break he wasn't a champion for 10 years he was a minor belt holder

I wholeheartedly agree with Warren. I think Calzaghe would have outboxed Carl very similar to how Ward did. And I'm a Froch fan.

this is it, I remember seeing Calzaghes name in the paper (in tiny boxes usually on the last page of sports pullouts) and whenever I saw his opponents name my first thought was 'who?' followed by 'oh, gotta be a European title fight or an "international title" fight for sub-contenders. That's why its so unknown...'

Took me a while to cotton on that he was fighting for a world body's title, the opponents were so crap. I don't know why he took ten years as a world champion to step up to world level. Perhaps that explains why Clev is facing nobodies, hes verbally keen to follow the JC route.

Actually. Clev's comment about Froch makes sense now...Nathan really does intend to move to SMW to fight Froch...but he didn't say WHEN he would do it ... meaning he intends to go punish Froch when Froch turns 43 in 2020.... that old Calzaghe trick of the trade.

Break Down of their best wins

          Carl Froch............VS.............Joe Calzaghe

Bute.....................................Kessler --- Both undefeated world champs(Kessler the better win) (Kessler beat Froch)

Kessler of now........................Eubank (Eubank the better win)

Abraham.................................Lacy (Lacy a proven SMW and winner of 5 SMW title fights. Abraham no pedigree at all at SMW was coming off a loss) (Lacy the better win)

Dirrell....................................Mitchel l (Mitchell a 2 time SMW champ who had never been clearly beaten, only lost by debateable SD in Germany to Ottke, had KOd long time SMW champ Liles, beaten a future SMW champ twice, compared to Dirrell who had done nothing at SMW) (Mitchell better win)

Pascal...................................Woodhall (Woodhall a SMW champ, who had beaten a reigning SMW champ, a world rated former champ, a future SMW champ and Branco a world rated SMW who became WBA LHW champ, who at SMW beat R Reid and G Johnson. Pascal had not done anything at SMW (Woodhall a better win)

Taylor.......................................Veit 2 (Veit an interim SMW world champ) Taylor had not done anything at SMW and was 1-2 coming in, in his last 3 fights (Veit the better win)

          Mack........................................Mkertc hyan
Mack had not done anything at SMW whilst Mykertchyan won a European SMW title (Mkertchyan a better win)

Johnson...................................Sheika --- Sheika was coming in with a win over prime Johnson, Froch beat faded, boiled down Johnson, (Sheika the better win)

Magee......................................Reid --- Calzaghe beat prime Reid (who was a SMW champ), and faded Reid beat prime Magee. (Reid the better win)

With that above, you can still note Brewer who was a SMW champ, Bika who is still a top 10 SMW, which shows that the era is not as strong as it used to be, Veit 1 who became a SMW champ, Manfredo when a top 10 SMW, Starie who beat undefeated Woods. Then you have the LHW win over Hopkins

calzaghe won his own super 6 against peter manfredo, will mcintyre, tocker pudwill, mger mtchkian, and branko sobot. froch came second in his super 6. calzaghe is clearly better.
