He had not lose since 8 years and was coming off a win against Judah who was himself coming off a 3 wins ko streak. People was giving FLoyd sh** for not fighintg Baldomir. Im not saying that the Baldo fight was better than a possible Margarito or Cotto fight (which were with Top Rank and you can see what happened the day Cotto left Top Rank), but to tell that there was no pressure to fight Baldomir is some bull*hit.

Though Castillo fought Floyd closely, I don't think he ever hurt Floyd or had him in trouble. I look at that fight and sum it up as Floyd having an injured hand and an off night more than anything. Just my 2 cents.

I've seen just about all of Floyd's fights and only a few times did I think "oh shidt!" he could be in trouble here...

SRL deserves every ounce of praise he gets (i grew up watching him and he is one of my top 3 favorite fighters ever) but imo, Floyd would have beat him.

but if the fans had a choice of Marg or Cotto vs. Baldomir or Judah... the fans would've picked Marg and Cotto every time.
It's a shame Bob Arum didn't agree and pay Mayweather what he asked to re-sign and take those fights with DLH as the cherry on top. "You have to know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. The money just isn't there." Those were Arum's words. Do you agree with that?

there was no real pressure because everyone knew baldomir would get knocked off first time he faced someone decent. they had to match him with shot gatti just so he could keep his belt and a floyd fight alive. it wasnt like baldomir had been a top welterweight for years like guys like margarito and cotto. also floyd did duck them. asking for 20 mill or he wouldn't fight marg? come on now. cotto was also nearly shot when he left top rank hmmm maybe that's why the fight got made? prime cotto lived too far away and that's why floyd couldn't fight him! lol!

Many people thought Gatti would beat Baldomir, he was coming off a ko win. I hate when people freaking forget everything and don't know their history.

He just left Top Rank, you honest think Arum was going to Work with Mayweather again after he just left Top Rank? COME ON! Baldomir fight was a Goossen/Tutor promoted fight, not Top Rank!

Arum used Mayweather name to build up Cotto and Margarito as the guys Mayweather DUCKED AND THE GUYS THAT CAN BEAT MAYWEATHER when Cotto said him self that talks of fighting Mayweather NEVER CAME UP while with Top Rank. And the Margarito fight was offered after Mayweather told Arum he wanted the Oscar De La Hoya fight, that is when Arum came back and offered Margarito and a big payday, but the catch was that Mayweather would have to stay with Top Rank which means that the Oscar De La Hoya fight likely would have NEVER HAPPENED had he took the Margarito fight! This is why for years they ran around saying "Mayweather Too Less To Fight Baldomir Then To Fight Margarito" but they always leave out how that was done so Mayweather could go on to Make HISTORY with Oscar De Lay Hoya

Fans just run their mouth because they hate Mayweather, you guys don't bring any facts to the table, your likely just repeating what you heard others say...I was actually WATCHING BOXING THEN! I remember what was going on behind the scenes and how Mayweather wanted Oscar and Arum told him that he is never working with Oscar again because Ironically Oscar just left Arum himself during that time and they was still going through a battle in Court if I am not mistaken. Some fans tend to leave things out and only tell one side of the story!

floyd demanded 20 million. he only got 10 million when he fought hoya. this is called pricing yourself out. arum was obviously right about knowing how much the fight was worth yet you still blame him. even floyd knows arum was right otherwise why did he accept the 10 million? why not demand the same 20 million? he demanded 20 mill because he knew arum couldn't give it to him. priced himself out. aka ducked.

Here is a thread about an interview where Brian Kenny was pressuring Floyd to fight Baldomir and people talking about that.

gatti was shot. he was coming off a ko win over a bum. the only reason people thought shot gatti would beat baldomir is because baldomir is a journeyman! not because gatti was any good. are you trying to revise history and pretend gatti was a top welterweight or something?

Exactly. And imo, Floyd would have embarrassed Margarito (cheater) and would have beat Cotto perhaps even worse at the lower weight.

Pacquiao in 2009 and 2010 is the only fighter that could have given Floyd any real problems, and in 2009, I honestly believe it was Arum and Pac's side who ducked that fight because they didn't want to submit blood within 17 days for some weird reason...
