Why a clause for two titlists at 154 though? Floyd won a belt at the 154 limit. Canelo won a belt at the 154 limit. Floyd even bragged that he wanted his opponent to be at his most comfortable weight.
So why a clause again?

The clause is there in an attempt to control weight, Floyd knows he's going to be feeling some hard shots from a heavier guy, seriously, he realizes this as a fighter. The contract isn't aesthetically pleasing to the "must see blood" crowd but it also doesn't reflect what both fighters will be at on Sept 14, and it give Canelo's camp less wiggle room.Comment

Mayweather had to take this fight.. because after canelo he will never ever make the same amount money ever again... there is just nobody out there interested in seeing a boring mayweather boxing with defense... I know mayweather is a awesome boxer... but people pay to see a fight not to see a defensive strategy... Canelo on the other hand is on a win/win situation... if he loses it will be his first loss and it will be to floyd mayweather... so no biggie there.. but with Mayweather, he will never generate the same amount of money on a ppv ever again... canelo on the other hand still has a good 10+ years in his career.. the only way mayweather makes money again after this is if pacquiao wins this year and they fight each other.. but everyone knows that won't happen.Comment

How can you be the champ of all 154ers if you're unwilling to face them at 154? And it's not like he's moving up, lets see if he can handle the weight. The clause is there in an attempt to control weight, Floyd knows he's going to be feeling some hard shots from a heavier guy, seriously, he realizes this as a fighter. If this is all true, why is Floyd the biggest draw in the sport and highest paid athlete in sports?Mayweather had to take this fight.. because after canelo he will never ever make the same amount money ever again... there is just nobody out there interested in seeing a boring mayweather boxing with defense... Not that surprising. I always said Floyd couldn't rely on another mediocre PPV (by his standards) and he received a lot of **** for fighting Guerrero. I expected this fight to be made in 2014 but it got made earlier. His team obviously realised the likes of Alexander or Khan would make him look a bigger ***** than normal.Comment

What was it he said? "I fight the best at their best weight. That's why I fought Cotto at 154."
More like he cherry picks the opportunities where weight doesn't matter.
Floyd Mayweather is just about the most disingenuous person on the planet. Nothing he says is backed up by his actions. Everything he says is agenda driven - be it to discredit Pacquiao, build up himself, or for his image. Nothing he ever says is said because it is true - of which most of it rarely is.
The ultimate irony is in how much energy he has put into discrediting Pacquiao over the years yet ducked the hell out of that fight.Comment
