Mayweather isn't in his absolute prime. But he's not miles away from it. His reflexes, speed, chin, stamina, power, co-ordination is all superb. You can't say the same for the Cotto that arguably won 4 to 5 rounds against him. Like I said, a 2007/2008 Cotto is a different proposition to Baldomir and Hatton. Mayweather knows that now, and he knew that then.
Cotto's ability had nothing to do with Mayweather not move like he normally does, for a reason unknown he chose to stand in front of Cotto. Usual Mayweather schools Cotto like he did Guerrero.

    • All I'm going to say is since Mayweather came back in 2009 he employed fighting with less movement, now that his father is back he showed superb mobility.

Whoever saying Cotto was effective is lying to themselves but also saying that Cotto forced Mayweather in to a fight he didn't want is blasphemous. Mayweather wanted to please the fans and I'm sure his body at the time 50 cent said he put money on "Money" to knock Cotto out in the 8th. Anyway this man is going to be discredit no matter how ****** it makes someone looks.

He did choose to fight differently, because he was having so much success in his comeback standing toe to toe, but you could see that he was frustrated and couldn't figure out Cotto like he does most fighters. He wasn't intending to end up on the ropes taking body shots.

            • The boxing landscape will be very very interesting if Saul Alvarez pulls this off and beat Mayweather.. I don't even know how things is going to look seriously.

This is a risky fight. Canelo is young, strong and highly active. Mayweather has more skill, but the question is workrate.
Yes Alvarez is probably Mayweathers best opponent. But when 75% of the forum say Mayweather will win. What does that say about Mayweathers most meaningful opponent? That it is another sure win? Which is why Mayweather took the fight. I hope Canelo knocks him out for this.

You hope Alvarez knocks out Mayweather because Floyd chose to fight him? This post is ****** its nonsensical. Every fighter goes into the ring thinking they will win, not only Floyd does this. The fact that people have Floyd as an overwhelming favorite at the age 36 when Alvarez is 23 is testament to Floyd's skills and longevity.

People think he's just that good.

I have to agree with this sentiment. Floyd is so good once he signs a fight, everyone already looks for the next opponent for him indicating they are sure he is going to win. At first it was a happy day when he signed to fight Canelo but the whispers of cherry picking creeped in to the fight. Now everyone is saying Golovkin should be his next opponent..

It's amazing how this thread became unsticky and left David Haye vs Tyson Fury up like anyone cares about that fight.

Even the owner of this site uses Floyd as the avatar. He knows the deal. Also, I agree with what you've been saying about Floyd and his father back into camp. He's back to hit and don't get hit.
