How would Mike Tyson be viewed if he retired 37-0?

How would Mike Tyson be viewed if he retired after fighting Carl " The Truth" Williams @ 37-0? lets suppose he suffered a career ending injury like detached retina...or brain damage..Would he be viewed second to Ali or would people say that he still hasn't fought enough people to solidify his legendary status? Or would this just have been a sweet way for Mike to have walked into the sunset?

BITD people (ie. 'experts') were arguing if Tyson was the greatest of all time. True story.

So yeah. A lot of people would make a case for him being no.1. I reckon he'd have a top 5 consensus ranking.

People would say he's unbeatable and would beat every single fighter in history.

Hell, people still say it now despite his loss's.

Sparking out the old blood aka Holmes and the new blood Spinks, retiring undefeated, youngest HW champ ever...top 5 ATG most likely. The losses to the big underdogs Douglas and Holyfield hurt his standing big time especially unavenged.

          Exactly.

I don't think retiring at 37-0 would change perceptions any different to what they are now. His career will forever be distorted by the death of Cus D'Amato and even though he finished out a decent career in terms of longevity, people still say what if.

So much hype about Mike Tyson...
When push came to shove and he fought the smarter man in the ring he'd lose that's my view on it.

If he would not let Don King fire Kevin Rooney his legacy would be different

Nahh, I would still prob have him at 8th spot on my all-time heavyweight rankings. I still think he would have beaten all the boxers he lost to in his prime including Holyfield and Lewis, but if fought everyone on his resume prime for prime I would expect him to lose once to Larry Holmes.

Despite the fact that he was physically perfect, Cus still had a lot to teach him before his death. I don't think Cus thought him enough to deal with the likes of Foreman and Liston.

More than anything he was Mike's self-confidence and somebody who really had his best interest at heart. A in shape and confident Mike retires undefeated IMO
