Yeah, I feel the same way. I used to think Erislandy would school Alvarez, but "Canelo" earned some respect from me after the Trout fight. I now think Lara-Alvarez is a pick 'em. Of course, Saul has a lot more to lose, should he drop a fight to Erislandy. Lara may not get a shot at the cash cow for some time yet.

NYC, you giving too much credit to the Ginger in a fight that a lots of ppl saw him losing, Lara will pick him apart and make him bleed all over the ring, there's a reason why GB/WBC has the #1 spot empty, even thought lara should be the #1 contender...

Maybe I am giving Alvarez too much credit. But I think Trout is a solid fighter and Saul performed well, whether you think he lost or not. While I think Lara is a solid fighter himself, I don't know if I'd pick him to make Alvarez "bleed all over the ring." Erislandy doesn't impress me quite that much. He's just too inactive for all that. I would be rooting for Lara, should a fight with "Canelo" ever materialize, but I wouldn't be too confident in an Erislandy victory.

I respect your opinion but seems to me that you are overrating Ginger and underrating Lara, they are not in the same level, I had been watching boxing for over 50 years and I know a green over protected boxer when I see one, Canelo is one of them, he didn't impress in his win against Trout, Sanchez was great against a HOF Gomez and he was 22, Duran against Buchanan, Floyd against Corrales (I know Corrales has a lot of problem leadind to the fight and the marshals were waiting for him in the Arena), the list goes on and on...

Sanchez, Duran and Mayweather are some serious names. I don't expect Alvarez to measure up to any of them. Then again, I don't expect Lara to either.

I hope you're right about the match-up. I would love to see Landy take the spotlight like that.

My opinion is base on performance, the names are examples and what they have in front of them were HOF too, a least Gomez is, Canelo hasn't done $h1t to be asking for a fight against Floyd, his fans are putting him on top of the 154 division because he won a controversial dec against Trout and claiming that May is ducking him, I'll tell you that Floyd will beat up that kid so bad that Sulaiman would jump into the ring and stop the fight himself, with all the weight advantage, Donaire had a a least 15 lbs over Rigondeaux and got his a$$ handed to him... The Ginger is not all that beleive me, not yet anyway

Yeah, come July, the Hugger should have a strap (sorry Ishe). Then they can put the noise to rest.....

Trout, while solid, is doesn't have the total package. The reason why he lost was because he didn't have enough pop to keep Canelo off him. That, and getting dropped. Lara's talented as fcuk, but he lacks focus. And that's what will be his undoing if he keeps it up. And he has pop. Canelo is deceptively quick, but he'll need a phone booth (and maybe that won't even work) to tag a focused Lara. And Canelo & his team knows this, that's why they're sitting around, waiting & hoping for Lara to lose so they can say, he really wasn't ready, you see so & so beat him, right? They don't want problems & Lara is just that.
