Why is Andre "Hometown" Ward Reluctant to Face Froch in the UK?

  • If a second fight does happen, it WILL be in the UK, no doubt about it.

No offer from Hearn/Froch has been made to Ward so the point is moot at the moment. Both men have fights coming up, and if both prevail (huge favourites in both respected fights), a fight with each other would make obvious sense.

Neither men are looking to move from 168, and given the choices of opponents around, i'd say Froch has more alternative options than a Ward rematch that would be just as, and in some cases much more lucrative.

Froch is a bigger draw, and with potential fights against Golovkin, Chavez Jr, Kessler 3 etc. on the horizon, a Ward rematch is not a necessity although he has more than earned it.

Question to Ward fans (yanks), who would you like Ward to fight after Rodriguez? I'd be intruiged to see who you'd prefer him to fight over Froch, seeing that many of you see no point to a rematch, and why that option would be better than beating Froch in the UK?

I'm all for Ward moving up or fighting the best from middle. If he continues to linger at 168 past La Bomba then you can call for him to dip back in to old girlfriends.
It's a good matchup because it's still the two best fighters at 168. Maybe Froch used the wrong tactics in the first fight. I felt he tried to box with Ward too much early on and Ward was just too fast, beating him to the punch.

I know what you're saying and I think Ward would likely win again but it wasn't even like the first fight was a whitewash. Ward got visibly tired and looked ragged at the end of the fight. If Froch maybe decided to go hell for leather early, he might get somewhere.

      • its froch who lost track of his worth and the fact that ward doesnt need him one bit.

you cant compare ward-froch to kessler-froch. kessler-froch 1 was close, myself and many others though froch won while ward not only beat froch in one sided fashion but did it with one hand.

froch thinks too much of himself as always. also im not sure he even wants the fight in reality. to me it seems he might be just namedropping ward to get some attention, like kessler has been doing. not sure about froch though, he might be willing to fight ward, but if he is he isnt making enough effort.

you want the #2 p4p fighter in the world, a man who already beat you easily with one hand to cross the atlantic to fight you in your home country you need to make it worth his while and then some.

JMM earned another fight with floyd when he KO'd manny, but there is no need for it to take place. Tim earned a manny rematch, you wanna see that? I don't.

Yes froch is the 2nd best 168 lber in the world. DO I want to see or think a rematch is warranted, No. No disrespect to Froch.

Ward needs to fight the #1 ranked guy in the division, who has proved his worth after beating the other best guys in the division. If Ward starts to fight the Oosthuizens and the Madernas of the SMW division, it would just be pathetic.

The only thing that's ridiculous is Ward fans dismissing the fight because Ward has already beaten Froch once. He might be miles away from Ward, but what does that make the other contenders? 100's of miles?

Countless rematches have been made on a lot weaker ground than this one, so why should it be otherwise?

          Clearly!
I'd rather see ward leave 168 and go to 175. A rematch with chad is more warranted than a froch reatch because chad wasn't at 175, but even hat rematch isn't high on my preference list.

            Talking in circles

They already fought so the fact that they are the 2 best has already been addressed.

A rematch isnt warranted just because--maybe, somehow--Froch can win. That makes little sense.

It was addressed and then Froch blasted away the guy that Ward refused to fight. And he also avenged his only other loss. The man deserves the right to avenge another. He came over to Ward's country and fought him, the favour should be returned IMO.

There aren't many other fights that make sense for Ward at 168. Unless you really think Chavez Jr is somehow compelling.

              • Ward fans, who do you want Andre to face after Rodriguez? Clearly you think Froch is non-deserving, who is?

                • Lets just call this what it is. If Froch isnt a Brit none of this comes up.

Ward needs to move up or fight a stud from middle, not rematch Froch. You can go on and on about how its a great matchup and they are the 2 best and blah blah but they already fought and Ward clearly won. How many times do you need to hear it?

In this case, ward should go to 175. He proved he is the best 168lber in the world. If he decides to stay at 168, I'd rather see him fight someone other than Froch. Maybe ggg or bute or steigitz

I respect the opinions of other people who post here (I've long followed this site but just recently began to say anything) but I find it mind boggling how anyone outside of hard core Froch fans can honestly think Ward is scared.

These two could fight 100 times and I'd see Ward winning about 95 of them. He's not scared.
