  • Why is Andre "Hometown" Ward Reluctant to Face Froch in the UK?

Is he scared, is it pride, ego, paycheck or what? Froch already fought Ward in the US, the obvious thing for Ward to do (just like Kessler did) is to now fight Froch in the UK.

Ward has been seen as a hometown whore for a long time now so fighting Froch in the UK will repair his damaged reputation. But Ward's manager said something about them only fighting in the UK if Calzaghe comes out retirement to face the winner.. basically a crazy demand which is almost impossible to fulfil.. so it seems they don't want the fight to happen in the UK..

What's the reason.. does Ward have such low confidence in his skills that he doesn't think he could beat Froch in the UK?

Sometimes Ward's team says some really ****** things, but I don't think Andre is reluctant to fight Froch in the UK. He knows it's probably his only opportunity to fight in front of a huge crowd, and his paycheck would be bigger if they fought over there. This fight is still in the pre-negotiations stage so neither side is going to reveal their hands to the media. I think this fight will happen in the UK.

If I were Ward I wouldn't even fall for it. HE already beat him and doing it again is just an extra paycheck plus some british people spitting on you and such lol

But money can change anybodies mind so if he has no opponent he might as well go for it

Ward doesn't need Froch. Froch needs Ward.

Fighting the 2nd best guy in the division adds a lot to resume even if they have fought before, it's also the biggest pay day, it also silences the criticism he gets for "hometown" fights. Ward has a lot to gain fighting Froch again.

No, Ward may be the champion but Froch is the star of the division.

Froch did not seem very excited about fighting Ward so why make a big deal about Ward going to the UK? The last fight between them was not a close or a controversial decision. Let Froch enjoy his win and title without throwing him into another Ward fight.

Funny joke, but let's slap some reality back into you.

Well, BPS 2.5 mln are $3,776,511.31... This was the purse that Froch and Kessler raised -- each of them... The gate at O2 Arena was of 18,000...

Now let's see what the most talented fighter in the Universe (i.e. Ward) did back at home:

The Ward vs Dawson fight? The event sold 7,611 tickets at Oracle Arena (more than 1000 comped), for a gate of $706,469.
