Comments Thread For: Groves: If Froch Loses To Me, Too Much For His Pride

mmm, I'm a big fan of George Groves, I think he is way better than he gets credit for, but I am not liking this change in his personality. I don't really think trash talk suits him and he should just concentrate on knocking guys out and letting his fists do the talking. Clearly Eddie Hearn is looking to build up a rivalry between the two ahead of a future fight down the line and I think Hearn needs to be careful. The British public turned against James Degale when he started acting like an arse, It would be a shame to see Groves go down that road. For the most part the British public warm to likeable guys that they can identify with.
Anyway, for the record I think Groves has enough to beat Froch somewhere down the line, but not now, it really isn't a fight I'm interested in just yet and I suspect neither is Eddie Hearn. I would imagine Hearn plans to set up 2 or 3 more big fights for Froch, and then have a domestic superfight with Groves maybe late 2014/early2015 which could act as a handing over of the baton were Froch to lose.Comment

I'd expect Froch to beat him too at this point, but you are wrong on both counts. Groves is not slow and certainly doesn't have no head movement. Who the hell have you been watching ?Comment

Groves would beat froch!!!!! Hes has much more natural talent then froch ever had!!!
Froch showed once again that someone with speed and decent timing would give him alot of problems!!!! Also when hes throwing those clubbing shots he looks off balance
Also hopkins and ward would UD himComment

I wouldn't mind seeing this within the next 2/3 fights of either Froch and Groves.
Other than a Ward rematch, there isn't many options at 168 that could fulfill Froch's last few fights to seal a legacy. Perhaps Stieglitz.....but nobodies clamouring for that.
Groves would provide a big domestic dust-up, and Froch would be a big favourite, no matter how much more skilled Groves looks. He hasn't been in with the class of Froch yet, but i think he's ready to step up to the next level.
Cleverley makes sense too, because not only will it be huge domestically, it'll provide Froch with a chance to become a 2 weight champ, enhancing that legacy. I just don't see that happening with Warren/Hearn beef.Comment

Froch put it perfectly.
"Groves needs to beat someone in the Top 25. Beat someone decent. Then I might consider fighting him"
If Groves beats someone good or get's a belt, like Steigletz for example. Then he can get into a position for a fight with Froch. Froch will obviously fight him if it makes sense, Froch will fight anybody.
Groves could even fight someone like Bika.
Anybody decent really.Comment

Be serious George
Carl Froch has never ducked anyone for any reason so Groves has nothing to worry about there. What he needs to concentrate on is getting a win that would force himself into a prime position to challenge Froch, which he hasn't done yet. He needs to fight and beat one of the top 10 first: Abraham, Stieglitz, Stevenson, Bika, Oosthuizen, Bute, Rodriguez. Fight and beat one of those guys first and then you would be in a good position to challenge Forch. And I'm sure he'd take it. There would be a lot of money to be made in Britain with a creditable Groves challenging Froch on a top of the bill fight.Comment
