Titles are not leverage. Especially Froch's when we all know Ward is the king of the division.

How do you duck someone you already beat soundly and who wants you to come to his house, with his ref, with his crowd, in order to even have a shot?

jesus christ. its one thign for boxers to speak out of their ass, its another for fans to be willfully ****** about it.

If thats aimed at me, my point wasn't about the titles, just that Hitman posted a link where Froch actually challenges Ward to fight him in the UK (irrespective of whether he prefers Kessler's style as an opponent).

Not aimed at anyone in particular.

I do think that Ward should go to the UK simply for financial reasons. But he doesn't have to.

I don't see as avoiding the fight if he doesn't want to. Froch is the challenger. Froch is the one that needs to avenge the fight not the other way around. I find froch's insistence that he holds the cards ****** if he means it.

I do get the feeling that he knows he doesn't, but he's laying the groundwork for not fighting Ward anytime soon. He can now point out that Ward "avoided" him and seems to be that plenty of fans are buying it.

I would think that you know better than to take Froch's paper titles seriously.

Those titles get him zero leverage, especially that horrible WBA strap that is arguably the worst joke of a title in the entire sport.

I think if Froch is serious about fighting Ward then he has to make him an offer. But, what I would say is that it is still early days. On the video posted above Hearn says they haven't even properly talked through the options yet.

Yes. This is all clearly contrived PR to save face over the fact that they will not make an honest effort to get Ward to the UK.

One thing I can tell you for sure is if a British fighter and promoter say that an American is ducking them, the British fans will accept it at face value even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

I think there will be an "offer" just to save face, but not a legit one that they actually have to worry about Ward accepting.

If the Kessler purse was 3 million I think Ward can get done for the same. People speculating that Ward wants 5-7 million are full of crap.

If Froch offered him 3 million to go to London and he turned it down that would be a duck.

If Froch offers him 1.5 million to go to London then clearly he is taking the piss and didnt want the fight.

To be honest, it looks like Sauerland, Hearn and Froch want Kessler III next. It's as though the only person who can prevent it happening is Mikkel Kessler.

In theory it sounds good but where will it be?

Kessler gave Froch his word on the rematch in the UK and followed through but I hardly think he will do it again.

If the fight is not in the UK or Denmark it's not going to make enough money to support the same kind of purses their 2nd go round did.

The only other place it makes good money is Germany and I think Froch/Hearn are smart enough to realize that fighting a Sauerland fighter in Germany is an even worse proposition than fighting Kessler in Copenhagen,

Reason I posted the link is because it's showing a pattern with Froch and his public statements.

                      I will fight Ward but......

                      I will fight Ward if.........

Yes he keeps saying he wants the fight, but he never makes it through another couple sentences without adding a half dozen asterisks to the original statement.
