I still have to admit that managing to edge out Hopkins tops anything Froch has done.
For me though having a host of C wins and one A win is a conundrum. Look at Buster Douglas....beat Tyson, and a slew of other meh HW contenders.

Certainly not gonna rate him over Marciano though.

I didn't say he should be ranked higher, I just thought it was an important aside to add after stating that I think Carl's resume is the tiniest bit better.

Debatable, really? If you honestly mean that, I'm glad Walt shot you.

Depends on how high you rate H2H fighters.

They're both around the same level. I don't know who's beaten more top level contenders than the other, but I'd imagine it would be reasonably close. Froch's resume looks better because these wins came one after another and since stepping up, he's consistently fought credible opposition.

Beating Kessler in a relatively close fight at this stage is hardly some great win, if we're being honest. It's a solid win, but Kessler's seen better days and was a better, much sharper fighter when he lost to Calzaghe and Ward.

You're overstating and giving way too much credence to "top 5" Ring ratings. Woodhall was coming off a NARROW road loss to Beyer that might the other way somewhere else. That would have made him 'top five.' Eubank, Lacy, a superior version of Kessler, a Hopkins who has gone on to do a bunch of great stuff since, a Brewer who was always tough against non-punchers, Bika is STILL a mid-top ten guy, Mitchell, Reid...he had plenty of solid to really good wins. The bigger issue was the division mostly ****** while he was there. feel free to nitpick, but his resume isn't nearly as atrocious as some make out.

Froch is ballsier in his matchmaking but tthe guy screaming busboy up top is too far the other direction. I love Froch for fighting in a great era at 168 and fighting EVERYONE. He deserves a lot of credit for that. Good that he's getting it. Substance over style.

Yeah, i guess there is no clear cut answer, it depends on how you value the wins. Froch has been a lot more consistent and tried to make the best fights. He is way better for the sport then Calzaghe was.

                  Froch.

And to think this guy is not even on the ring's P4P list while Broner and Canelo are is disgusting.

Froch has the better resume by far, but JC was far more talented and just about the only person I see handing Ward his ass at 168.

I think that head-to-head match-up would be a hell of a lot closer than some would suggest.

Calzaghe has great stamina, sure, but while that was enough to beat a lot of fighters (mainly average or old one's), Carl can go for 12 rounds at a hot pace. Carl would also go forward all night and have no worry about being hurt....that's a close fight.

Also, I had Hopkins winning against Calzaghe. Sorry, but every meaningful punch was landed by Hopkins, Calzaghe slapped at thin air most of the night.
