I agree with all of the above. Cotto was in prime shape for Floyd, but didn't look the part against Trout. I don't get that, but I like Diaz as a trainer.

There are a lot of good fights for Cotto at WW. If he's going to continue fighting, he needs to put his head down and and go back to the division that suits him best.

Diaz is good for him and I think Roach is just awful now, simply because there is no way you have Parkinsons, with your body breaking down and somehow stay one of the best trainer in the world, it's just not possible.
Roach have Parkinson's, he is not blind. He can still tell his fighters what to do and what to work on, u act like roach can't see Shiiet or anything. And Diaz is a very technical trainer but maybe that's not what cotto needs. Every fighter is different, only cotto knows the real reason for the switch and if he chooses to leave then obviously he feels what Diaz is teaching him is not working for him. I kinda do wanna see how cotto does under roach. I know at this point in cottos career u won't be able to really change him but it would be cool to see an offensive minded cotto throwing combos and being aggressive.

Cotto doesnt have super quick hands or reflex, and to be a good technical fighter and be able to counter your opponent I feel u need to have those things. Cotto needs to go in there and apply pressure and let his hands go and maybe that's why he wants roach to be his trainer.

SOOOOOO many great match ups! Lara, K8, Angulo, Molina aren't big names. He could move down and fight Ortiz, Berto, Alexander, Maidana, Mosley (lol..why not?) Khan and all of the 140 lbers who will be moving up in soon.

That's probably what he's thinking, but at the end of the day he's probably wrong. The days of Cotto bullying people are long gone and they're not coming back at 154.

One of the clearest problems he has is his inability to maintain any sort of a pace for 12 rounds lately. He wilted completely in the late rounds against Mayweather, and against Trout he put 4-5 good rounds together through the middle stretch and then did the same thing. He's not going to be blowing people out of it at JMW so if he can't keep a high workrate down the stretch it's hard to see how he's going to a significant player anymore.

I'm not saying for him to bully them but more like be busier in the ring. The defensive trying to be all technical style is not working for cotto. He doesn't have what it takes to fight like that. His best chance now is to mix it up and be more busier in the ring. Apply pressure throw a few combos and reset is what he needs to do. We've all seen him try to fight more defensively and that didn't go to well so I don't see how switching to a offensive minded trainer like roach can be any worst.

Cotto is known to have weak stamina and maybe that's why he needs to be busier so he can hurt his opponent early on so he won't have that problem of gassing out. The way cotto fights lately he let his opponent be too relax and let them fight their fight and in return they will turn up the heat mid rounds and that's when cotto starts to get drained out. That's why he needs to go in early on and try to hurt his opponent so they won't have that kind of energy and well to push him and tired him out in the later rounds.
