One of my favourite fighters of the modern era. He was a vey good fighter in addition to being pure entertainment in the ring. Better than a lot of titleholders out there but got shafted big time by boxing politics. Real shame, had the talent to be a great fighter but just didnt get a fair shake.
Was Emanuel Augustus one of a kind...

Me too, he was the definition of a fighter he fought anyone, anywhere on short notice, or no notice, and hell if it could be done i think he would fight on didn't notice.
I remember reading an interview and he was asked why he showboats when he fights and his reply was he wasn't trying to showboat he just could not help it, and it was his passion for fighting that was coming out and when he tried not to do it he could feel the punches he was receivingComment

Emanuel Augustus(previously known as Emanuel Burton) is so under-rated it's a shame, he won most of the fights he got losses for. His ability is one of kind and actually unique, he gave mostly everyone he fought a tough fight and his record is very tricky.. Most think they are going to get an easy knockout win and find themselves in a frustrating awkward war. What many see as him clowning is just him going in to his warrior trance( some people call it the puppet dance or drunken master) where he performs at an even more frustrating pace. This guy always took a fight on days notice, probably been drinking and partying the whole week, never having the time to train and fighting world class opponents and giving them some of the toughest rounds in their career. If he had a better managed career and training camp I'm sure he would have been an elite boxer.. in my opinion.Comment
