The reason he whent after Trout was to set up a unification with Canelo. It is the same thing he is doing right with Ishe. He wants to go in to the Canelo fight with a belt just to have more pull in the negotiations.

first thing that came to mind was mayweather/canelo is happening.

as far as cotto goes, thats only a 2 month turnaround for smith/molina winner. if angulo wins i could see it. lara may be too dangerous.
