i understand the reasons behind fighting ishe smith. easy belt. but it's not like cotto needs a belt. so many better fights. i'll be disappointed if that happens.

The reason he whent after Trout was to set up a unification with Canelo. It is the same thing he is doing right with Ishe. He wants to go in to the Canelo fight with a belt just to have more pull in the negotiations.

Cotto is a belt hunter. When he doesn't have a strap, he tries to acquire one ASAP. Wouldn't surprise me if Cotto pursued a Smith fight.
