I feel confident saying it'll be Canelo or Garcia. Hopefully Canelo.
You can google it, Maidana was on the original list of approved opponents. He hasn't lost since. Lopez would make sense with wins over Ortiz and Maidana (guaranteed action fight), hell that's more than Ortiz or Guerrero had done. Plus he's Mexican, well liked, always gives great effort, coming off big win. It checks a lot of boxes.

I think only Canelo make sense for Showtime. Garcia or Khan, maybe?

Yeah alright.......Floyd isn't fighting Maidana or Lopez, that's just dumb. I'd be in utter shock. The winner of that fight will more than likely be fighting Keith Thurman, if he beats Chaves.

This is my most likely to least likely in order for September:

          1. Canelo
          2. Alexander
          3. Garcia
          4. Cotto rematch
          5. Matthysse

If it's true about the Khan/Alexander and Lucas/Danny Garcia fights happening, there's really no one left to fight but Canelo.

I think that is what we are going to see.

I think if you're Mayweather, and you're going to fight Canelo in one of your last 5 fights, you'd want it to be now. In 2 years Canelo will likely be a lot better, and Floyd will be older of course.

I just don't see any other fight taking place.

Cotto rematch, really??? Really??? The only time Floyd took a rematch was when half the people thought he lost to Castillo. No one thought he lost to Cotto or thought it was very close for that matter. It was a comfortable UD.

Here's the likelihood of his next fight, in my opinion......

              1. Canelo
              2. Garcia
              3. Alexander
              4. Matthysse
              5. No other realistic options for a September fight, maybe the Maidana/Lopez winner or Paulie-Broner has a 1% chance of happening.

If Floyd fights Canelo, I just don't want people to flip the script like they did with the Mosley fight, where no one thought he'd fight him, and turn around to call Canelo a cherry pick of a young fighter.

Canelo is about as ready as he'll ever be. He beat Trout, to my surprise, and legitimized himself. It's time to happen finally.

Yea i've seen a couple people talk about this rematch on here though. I'm not the least bit interested in seeing it I really don't know why its brought up

I'm just saying, if Lopez beats Maidana and Floyd is not fighting Canelo, that's probably the most sellable fight on that date. Showtime cares, they can't afford it to bomb.

Anything after the first 3 isn't happening regardless so who cares?

Schaefer is 90/10 sure that Matthysse/Garcia will happen so that really just leaves Canelo and Alexander.

Only way Garcia happens is if Haymon doesn't think much of him so he tries to sneak in a payday before feeding him to Matthysse.
