Cool, a LW asking a WW to drop to 142, which is still WW.
How about a JMW champion asking another JMW champion to fight at 147?

Manny had already fought at welterweight actually.

And no I hate Canelo/Mayweather at 147. 154 or bust.

A better question is, why did Floyd fight Margarito and Pac's left-over?
Ummm. No, Team Pacquiao wanted Cotto at 150lbs after his loss to Mayweather. When he refused to play the patsy, they moved onto Marquez.

I won't be happy if the Maywether/Alvarez fight is atb147lbs. But it hasn't been made yet so I'll sit back and wait.

Also, for the know nothing that's trying to make Pac out to be a midget, you do realise he's been entering the ring at 145lbs plus since his second fight with Marquez.... at 130lbs. His last fight he stepped in at 152lbs. Waddaya know.....

But does that make him a welterweight? iirc, he weighed 144 for the Oscar fight.
Floyd on the other hand fought at 154 twice already, does that make him a legit JMW?

?? Manny was 144 for welter (147 limit), Floyd was 150 for his JMW fight (154 limit). I guess Floyd isn't really a junior middleweight then by this logic.

What's your point? Mayweather has fought at 154lbs one more time than Pacquiao has and hasn't come close to the limit either? Pacquiao also won a belt at 154lbs and didn't want to fight someone he already destroyed at that weight. That was ok with his fans but this isn't? For the record I agree with brjngjng Alvarez down to 147lbs at all but your analogy makes no sense.

No they are not, but one got criticized for fighting Cotto at 145, while the other is asking a 154 fighter to fight him at 147.

Think people need to chill out.
Also Mayweather is asking Canelo to come down a full weight class when Canelo has shown he can't even meet a catchweight

I agree with what you said. Oscar asked for the fight at 147 because he thought he could make that weight and beat up little Pacquiao and claim to be #1 pfp. Oscar probably would have been strong at 147 if he had made weight in the standard way of drying out the last day or two and then rehydrating. Instead for some crazy reason he took his weight down to or below 147 a week or two before the fight. his body shut down and he could not properly rehydrate. Yes, Pacquiao made Cotto come in at 145 instead of 147. I seriously doubt if the fight would have been different if Cotto could have weighed in at 147 but many fans think it would have made a difference. Floyd is the WBA 154 pound world champion and as long as he holds on to that title he has no right to make his #1 challenger Canelo weigh in even one ounce below 154 pounds. Canelo cannot and will not make 147 pounds.

One actually happened, and it deserves criticism.

If Floyd fights Canelo at 147, I'm gonna crap all over that too.
