Why do fans disrespect boxers so easily?

Boxing is one of the toughest sports out there, yet it's a sport where people easily dismiss fighters. Like in any sport, there are prospects out there. Some succeed, some don't...but to the point where people call certain fighters bums or a joke? A bit harsh. Thanks to the internet, some of us boxing fans have been able to keep up easier with potential starts or just any up and coming fighter. It's way easier to market an exciting style than the effective style in the sport, so I don't really call people "hype" jobs. The reason they're there is because people love that style...if they happen to lose...all of a sudden he's a bum? a joke? That blame should be on us. Look at Bradley, he goes to way in his recent, and you still have people talking bad about him. Look at Khan, he's basically fought a majority of the top guys at 140 but some fans see him as a joke. Hey, at least he took on all of these fights! Sure he might be a bit too egotistical outside the ring, but his in ring guts shouldn't be in question.

People are mad at Bradley for the Pacquiao fight.

Khan has a big mouth on him, but I agree, he should get a ton more respect on this site. I'm guilty of taking a crap on him, but only because I get so disappointed in him. Dat chin doe. Yikes.

No you do not. What did you find the boxers on Angies List or something? You cant critique a inferior boxer losing to a superior one. Really, Who do you think you are?

It's like that in all sports

FANS PAY THEIR MONEY WHICH FUNDS THE ATHLETES PAY CHECKS.

SO THEY HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO WHINE AND COMPLAIN

            ITS CALLED FREE SPEECH

I do agree though that boxers get an awful lot of harsh comments..

But it is pretty evenly split. You cant find one fan boy without finding a hater, no matter which boxer it is

If any of these bashers were to step into a ring just for 1 round and feel the pain and agony that comes along with it I guarantee u their outlook on the sport will change.
Boxing is brutal, very brutal. I've spent about 10 years training on and off 9 amateur fights went 6-3. (159lb) Last kid I fought at Passaic Athletic league (pal) in north jersey whooped my @$$ so hard. Most brutal thing I've ever done. I thought oh yeah I can go pro, I got this. I took my @$$ back to school to finish my bachaloers, I respect any man stepping into the squared circle trading blows.

In the age of internet and the ability to appear as anonymous as you want, its very easy to say anything about anything.

Given that, its very easy to be a troll and dismiss a fighter at any convenience. Those who do it excessively have no life really. To each his own
