When is Roman Gonzalez going to get his due?

Two weight world champion, 34-0 with 28K.Os

He is a terrific little fighter and I never hear any praise his way, hes not in any top p4p lists or anything.

He just soundly beat the guy who upset Viloria!

How the hell can you have Adrien Broner for example above this guy? ''Oh he beat DeMarco'' apparently the best guy in the division, he wasn't at all. Gonzalez has beaten the #1 in two divisions!

To think he is only 25 as well.

Apart from Estrada, who has he beaten?

I'm a fan of the kid and watch most of his fights but fighting at that weight against the competition he's fighting against won't win him any recognition. I want to see him fight Ioka, I can see it happening.

He gets his due when his name is brought up. People just don't talk about the smaller weights in general.

I was really looking to him fighting Viloria but now that Viloria lost Im not too excited about it.

He was going to fight Ioka but Ioka's team pulled out because they knew that Roman would have ruined him. Anyway, as to the original question. His promoters suck!! He needs to go to one of the bigger companies so that he can get bigger fights and be on TV more. Another thing that he needs to do is move up to 112 where they are bigger and better fights to be made. I know he fights on the 25th of this month against some fighter just to stay busy. Hopefully by the end of the year he can fight a better opponent.

He beat Takayama (current#1 @min) & Nida(#1 at the time for years) in their hometowns.

Would love that fight or a fight with Hernandez

Ioka's people blantantly ducked Gonzalez. They said Ioka wasn't ready.

Min. weight is a bit of mess concerning a clear #1 and even still, those weights suffer in a P4P sense. You normally have to beat a P4P fighter before being inducted into it. It's not an accurate list, but BoxRec's Top 25 P4P rankings have no fighters low than Super-bantam.

I feel for Gonzalez, I hope he's able to compete as high as bantam at least. There are a few good looking youngsters around his weight class though, so hopefully he gets a lot of recognition via beating a dominant champion, ala Rigo-Donaire.

Hernandez-Gonzalez would be a war, certainly ain't going the distance.

Which is fair enough, he's had less than half the amount of fights Gonzalez has had and has been a pro only half as long. I wouldn't really consider it a duck, I can see the fight happening over the next few years.
