As good as Floyd is, I put him one level below those guys. That whole era was talented. To beat Hearns and Leonard, you would have to do more than try and outbox them. Leonard saw that he couldn't outbox Tommy because the reach and height was just too much. He had to bite down and fight him. Floyd is great but he has always got by on skills alone. That just wouldn't happen if he fought those 2 guys. Duran and Pryor would have given him hell too. He would be forced to go flat footed and exchange with those guys. Pot shotting would just not do it in that era. Anyone that disagrees, simply go back and look at old footage of those guys. Floyd gave Guerrero a boxing lesson, but can you honestly imagine what Leonard and Hearns would have done to him??? Tommy would have crushed him early like in round 2 or 3. Ray would have showboated and had the crowd on their feet humiliating Guerrero until the KO came in the later rounds. That was just a completely different era than this.
I think styles make fights. I think Ghost vs SRL, or Herns would be all out wars where everyone is eating shots, but at the end of the day coming out with a victory over Ghost. Maybe even stopping Ghost. I dont see them dominating him comfortably without getting grazed.

I agree with a hell of a lot of what Paulie says, but, I think the fighters he mentioned were that great (Robinson and Leonard) they would find other ways to win if fighting Floyd. I'm not saying they would win, but if Floyd tried to "disarm" them then they would make a change themselves to then switch up the fight again, meaning they can attack again.

Thats what the best of the best do.

I feel the same way. Most people dont recognize the subtle skills though, plenty of ppl cant even see the obvious ones. Also ppl dont realize just how well rounded this guy really is, or how uncommon it is even through history for a fighter to bring that much to the table.

Top 10 atg in my book.

Floyd is lasting longer than Roy, but he has been tested by guys during his prime. Even Bernard Hopkins could not test Roy.
Roy was never better than floyd..tarver and glen johnson figured him out..i wont talk about his losses to calzaghe and green they happened past his prime..there is no blue print on how to beat floyd.

Roy Jones Jr was never a better boxer than Floyd Mayweather, NEVER. No real boxing fan would dispute this, he was an athletic freak of nature that allowed him to do things physically that other guys couldn't do

But he was never a more skilled BOXER than Floyd, please

Paulie dont back track now. The world knows you said if Pac beats Cotto he must be the GOAT. You never said that about Floyd.

Floyd may well have done well against SRL and SRR. But they have better resumes so you cant talk beyond that, anything else is fantasy and wishful thinking.

resume wise, no. But he's definitely one of the most talented fighters we've seen in a long long time. He did himself a disservice not fighting Pacquiao in 2009.
