again, he did it every fight until Oscar who himself never did it. Thats all its about. Thats what changed in him. Hes no trying to hide nothing. He was 138 pounds at LW, 143 pounds at SLW, 146-148 pounds at WW until recently where he went to 150-151 at WW/SWW. he's not big

Oh right, because Floyd came in at 146 for a WW fight after nearly 2 years out of the ring can only mean one thing, Floyd is a big a$$ dude.

I mean really. 146 for a 147 fight. Wow. I wave the white flag, that piece of evidence is just overwhelming.

Oh I know he's not big, but it's totally conceivable he's been 155-156. Canelo was 165 for Lopez, lets git it on!

Is it fair to hold a belt hostage of a higher weight class when you have not defended it in over a year?

We arent telling Ward he has to fight a Cruiser. We wont even make him go to LHW.
Actually most people are saying Ward should move up, he was criticised for the Dawson fight too.

Depends on whats important to him at this stage, his place in history or just his bank balance. If he challenges himself and does the business at 154, then he will probably be remembered as one of the best ever, if he doesnt and stays at WW fighting guys coming up from 140, then he still makes a ton of cash but it doesnt do much for his legacy and feeds the view of most that he doesnt like to be challenged and prefers everything to be to his advantage.

Cant doubt his ability in the ring, but at this stage there are a lot of asterisks on his record. He could have done so much more up to now, but if he does fight 5 times in the next 30 months, he can still do something extraordinary....or something ok. Its up to him.

Ive said it before but I truly believe that Senior himself thinks prime for prime, he would beat Floyd. I think he believes that Floyd is just too small. He doesnt believe he is SRL, Hearns, or even himself.

I wouldnt be shocked if Senior is the main reason behind this Canelo weight thing (if true). Senior has said it for years whenever they ask him about Floyd doing this or that at higher weights.

Its not just him though. A ton of fighters and trainers say the same. They say they call him lil Floyd and its not because he's a Jr. He's just a small guy. Even alot of them now are calling Floyd maybe the best ever but shouldnt fight Canelo because of the size. They dont even say it like they favor Canelo because of the size advantage but they say it more like they shouldnt even fight because of it

Guerrero had to dehydrate to make weight at that fight. he was i think 159 at the 2 week mark. if he could put on the weight healthily then by all means. but I doubt it at his age.

keeping his fighting weight right near his walking around weight is what maximizes his longevity and performance ability. You take a guy like Ortiz who might be 147 of muscle. Then add all that water weight. Canelo 154 of muscle, then add 20 pounds of water weight. It's ****** and it does no good for your body in the long run. Floyd always comes in as the smaller fighter, but also normally comes in as the more fit fighter. No stamina issues, he doesnt gas out, because thats his actual weight. he's not carrying around anything extra, and his body doesnt have to go through adaptation periods over night. He talks a lot of S***. But he's one of the most disciplined fighters ever. He took care of his body and took at least 7 to 8 years of mileage off of it. You combine that he's disciplined working out all year round, with the fact that he doesnt drink or smoke, with the fact that he doesnt rehydrate/dehydrate, with the fact that he doesnt take damage in fights due to his defense, you have a guy who can EASILY fight at a high level for the next 2 years. That's why Canelo's always gassing out. He puts on all this weight, and while it makes him bigger, it does nothiing for his stamina or endurance when your body has to adapt like that. I could argue that on fight night if they were to fight. A 36 year old Mayweather would be in better shape than a 22 year old Canelo. Which is why Floyd would cruise to the W. I dont think Canelo could deal with the footwork, evasiveness and movements for 12 rounds. Most guys cant which is why they always gas out, combine that with the fact that he'll take you out of the fight before the fight MENTALLY, with the fact that humans function on a basic trial and error basis, where if you're getting tagged and not getting anything in, you'll grow gunshy. With the fact that by the time the 12th round comes he'll still be fresh, with elite Defense, You have a virtually unbeatable fighter who will always at least win the UD.

i dont think he should, but he looks like he's 20. he could probably go up if he wanted to.

thats ridiculous that he looks like that though. I know dudes my age (19) who are WASHED UP.

Floyd beats Canelo fairly easy, and when he does the excuses will start pouring in. "Canelo doesnt have top fighter experience or Canelo was to young," blah blah. Then the hate will move towards Floyd not wanting to fight Manny, and when he does and mopps the floor with him the excuses will come pouring in yet again.. "Floyd didnt fight a prime Manny because he was scared.." blah blah. The hate for Floyd will never stop. Floyd could beat every top fighter at 147/154/160 and the excuse will be that he didnt fight them in their primes.
We know who isn't a threat to either Floyd or top 154ers, Cotto. But props for being willing to fight them at their weight, except Marg who wasn't a top 154, even 2 eyed. If only Floyd was so brave, he may have even proved you right about him beating all those 154 and 160ers lol. But as it is, he's about to ask a fellow SWW champ to drop down a division

I agree. I think everone agrees. No one argues that. Either he fights Canelo, etc.... or he should be stripped. I dont think anyone disputes that

Thats not even an argument so why do people keep brining it up. He's the #1 P4P fighter in the sport and the biggest money maker. That means he's bigger than the title. He doesnt care about getting stripped because whenever he wants to fight at 154 again, he can go straight for a title because any of the champs will want to fight him
I take your point BUT the title proves that he can compete at 154 and he is a legitimate fighter at that weight.

There are various fighters in the sport who campaign at a weight that they're too big small for.

Obv, Floyd can call the shots and he's entitled to do that.

I enjoy watching Floyd put clinics on fighters - he a genius but boxing fans just want to see competitive fights.
