Being honest for the first half of the fight, Chelo looked elite. Burns isn't a PFP fighter but he is no mug an Chelo was just shutting him out. The quitting was bad but if he can stay on the outside in fights, he has the makings of a great fighter.

No, what happened was both landed hard shots, one man made adjustments, the other man could not take the heat and that is what BURNED him. Heart, stamina, and determination actually make up the content of a true fighter, as shocking as that sounds to the newbies. One had it, one didn't. Burns never stopped pressuring and pressure breaks pipes. If a fighter doesn't have a second wind or is not given any room to breath, that is what can happen.

Only 1 person has mentioned this so far but there was 1 punch which changed this fight. In that 7th round Burns caught Gonzalez with an uppercut that caused an immediate and noticeable reaction in his legs. Burns couldn't take advantage of it because he was so hurt himself and just hanging on. After that Burns head cleared but Gonzalez legs never recovered.

He may have hurt his wrist (although body language didn't really suggest that in the corner) but his legs were gone. After that shot he could only through arm punches and he wasn't as evasive in defence.

I'm not sure on the punch stats,but Chelo was landing the most telling blows,its just how Burns was able to take them.he refused to yield his belt though he was outworked and outskilled.

Chello looked mustard, had expected the power but not the defensive skills or the calm poise! Ricky is Lucky that the kid had no guts, he only had to hang tough, wrist injury or not!

Burns is quality but basic. He's classic textbook, no special effects. What he does have is immense fitness, mad heart, bravery, guts, size and physical strength. By hanging tough and never giving up on himself he broke the heart of a guy who had been used to KO'ing everyone he tagged, Chello was in with the best fighter of his career and he was gassed out too.
