When Frank Warren is impressed with your cherry picking you know you've done something!

He could have been, but he missed a lot of challenges and thats what puts him below so many other fighters. It seems to be the norm these days, but in generations gone by fighters fought their rivals and didnt make excuses for not fighting them on the whole.

I've never doubted the guys talent, but its frustrating as a boxing fan knowing he could have been so much more. IF he does actually have another five fight in the next thirty months and stays unbeaten, then provided its not against a bunch of guerrero's or old men, then he will elevate himself.

Whatever path he chooses, he has become rich beyond his and most peoples dreams and can look back on his career and be happy. A great fighter, but nowhere near the best.

no one can deny that cherrypicker has great skills and abilities, but the problem is he never tested them against the best of his generation when they were in their primes.... that's why he will never be greater than SRR or SRL

Frank Warren admires a ATG cherry picker.
Afterall he should he's the one who managed Joe Slapzaghes professional career.

When Floyd retires 49 or 50-0 he will go down as top 5 ATG. YEAH I SAID IT!

You know what's funny, any Floyd thread that gets made his haters jump in and post before an of his fans ever get the chance to. They are WAYYYYYY more obsessed with Floyd than any of his fans could ever be.

I've always thought Floyd would beat a prime SRL.

Here is my reasoning... I'm Panamanian and have watched Roberto Duran like you have no idea and specifically remember the buildup to what was eventually going to be his shocking upset of SRL. Ray Leanard was every bit of the exciting fast handed, smooth, flashy footwork and combination punching that his nickname suggested.. Duran was a blue collar hard hat kind of guy that was slower, smaller, and punched with slightly less force because he was the smaller man coming up in weight. Mind you, "Hands of Stone" was a nickname he honored by pounding his opponents. But let's be very clear... He was pounding them at the lesser weight.

Then the fight took place.. Duran could hit SRL with anything and everything and him and Sugar Ray had a battle. An unnecessary one in my opinion because SRL was clearly the more gifted and talented man. But this is where it gets interesting.. Duran was SMARTER than SRL in that fight. He was 2 steps ahead of him the entire fight. It was the only time I thought SRL lost legitimately in his prime. It happened when he was outboxed. I have seen this scenario play out several times in other fights in which the less flashy, talented man timed, out smarted and out hustled the superstar, at different levels. We've seen it with Pacquiao vs Marquez, Khan vs Garcia, Mosley vs Winky, Jones Jr. vs ANYONE, DLH vs Trinidad, Ali vs Holmes, Holyfield vs Tyson, Juanma vs Salido, Billy Dib's last fight etc... (I know there are tons more at different levels and times in boxing). The point here is, these men were all either out hustled, out smarted, timed, or stylistically challenged in their loss. Floyd has seen his fair share of tough fights but he was in danger of losing only twice in my opinion. Castillo 1 and against Mosley. Castillo he would edge and fairly rematched him to prove he was the better man in a close, yet clear contest. Mosley almost put him out and got punished thru the next 10 rounds for his troubles. Floyd has never been at ANY point, outsmarted by a lesser man because he is the smartest along with his many talents. You can't win either fight against him, mental or physical. Duran outboxed Leonard. I could just never imagine someone beating Floyd by decision...in this era or any era

no he wont. His reputation is diminishing rapidly! His fights never have lived up to any hype. He makes money due to his opponents fan base and the boxing fans that wanna see him get brutally KOd. Or just beat up! That does NOT make you an ATG!
What kills him is his cherry picking opponents. Ducking fights FANS wanna see. All the hype networks like HBO and Showtime make to keep viewers happy wont account for ATG status when its all said and done.
Despite his small fan base. Floyd will always be remembered as a cherry picker.
The one who ducked Manny Pacquiao for the Biggest most anticipated fight in Boxing history.
The one who faked a retirement to duck the rematch with DLH. And the rest of the WW division in which was full of hot prime tough opponents!

anyone who cannot see this. Needs to have an evaluation!

Top 5 ATG judged on the opponents he has faced?
Or judged on the 0 in his record?

Floyd Mayweather Jnr will be treated with the same regard as Rocky Marciano in many ways I think, not for style etc but the way he carefully picked who he fought.

He wont finish above Sugar Ray Leonard(fought by far tougher opponents), Willie Pep, Muhammad Ali, Joe Louis, Sugar Ray Robinson or Henry Armstrong.

A 0 in a record doesn't always mean best fight of all time, loads of the best fighters of yesteryear had a loss probably because they actually took hard fights.
