Showtime is part of a publicly traded company so while they can fiddle with the numbers a bit especially early estimates but they need to be properly accounted in the end for anyone who cares to dig.

Sure they could lie (I don't think it would be worth the possible SEC fines/bad press for the amounts that trivial to their bottom line), but so could have the confidential source that told Rafael and Iole so what makes that more believable.

    Risk/reward~

I dont care about buys but if it is a financial success than this is good for boxing all around. Floyd is the biggest name in the sport so if he fails to draw than boxing fails.

So what the fight did better than the haters expected. Its your own faults. You guys love you some Mayweather and couldn't wait to purchase the fight.

I don't think they'll release the actual numbers

Plus they need to put their foot down to demand better opposition...
i dont buy that even if showtime breaks even in the mayweather deal they still will have many more people getting showtime and it just makes there boxing product better. its the key ingredient in this whole showtime boxing splash to take over or atleast be equal to hbo boxing. if you factor in everything this deal is nothing but a success i dont see how you could honestly even argue that. plus that will probably be the smallest fight they do together it was basically a tune up fight after jail and such.

Still no figures, just a load of defensive scurrying.

This is weird. They usually just tell us the PPV numbers. Not do the whole he said she said argument.

We've been hearing 'it will do over a million' since Tuesday now... that's not a number. What number has actually been counted to date?

Can you imagine if Bob Arum was doing this- instead of giving a number, he kept saying 'oh, it's going to do over X amount'?

Talk about spin doctors out here.

Really you gonna try again. OK! Thats not what i meant cause i wrote i dont care about PPV in the post you responded to. Can you read or do you just see Floyd and run with that? Anyway Floyd is the biggest name in the sport, whether you like it or not, and if he fails then yes the sport fails in a way. We want the big names to draw to support the sport. I know this may be alot for your simple mind to grasp but it is the truth.
