  • He (Espinoza) also stated that 1.5mil buys was their goal for Floyd/Guerrero.

Two weeks ago, Espinoza told USA TODAY that he would be thrilled if Mayweather-Guerrero exceeded Showtime's goal of 1.5 million buys. A million or so buys is more than 30% below that goal, but above the numbers thrown around on Twitter late this week that Showtime would not come close to a million buys.

      • Ask yourselves this...

If the PPV did do "OK", does anyone believe Mayweather, GBP, or Showtime would just come out like "Ehhh well...we'll do better next time"? If the official numbers aren't released and they just say it was a "Success", I'll lean towards it still doing good, but probably lower than his previous outings.

        • Now fat Dan is sticking to his guns despite the announcement.

Anyway, this whole argument is over measly 100k buys. Not that big of a deal.

That's about 3.5m for SHO. It's no joke, wasn't HBO's budget messed up that one year for committing about that much to Bradley and Alexander's future dates? Normally nobody cares, since it's the promoter taking the hit

                Fat Dan lacks humility.

                • Has Dan been right about anything in his life other than the price of the local Old Country Buffet?

That fatty should spend more time going jogging instead of lying about PPV buys then not having the courage to admit he screwed up.

I can't think of many false rumors Rafael has spread. He's one of the most conservative guys about spreading rumors. That's why he's still at ESPN all these years, and why he has top notch access.

                    • In Mayweather last fight, PPV numbers were released less then a week after the fight. ESPN already had an article about it at 4PM ET the following saturday. Its currently 3PM on the sunday following a floyd fight and no numbers have been released. They must still be counting i guess
