"Your manager, Gary Hyde, has said out there that you would like a fight with Abner Mares, maybe 126 pounds ...

"Absolutely not. I stay at 122. Gary Hyde says about a thousand things that he shouldn't speak about without asking me and makes decisions for me without consulting with me.''

Thanks for that post. Green K.

Lots of misinformation gets spread around here like it's fact.

Ironically I think Donaire KOs mares yet think mares has a better chance to beat Rigo. Weird how that works
They said they would stay at 122 and theyre sticking by their word. Rigo could be fighting at 118 if he wanted to.

Don't matter what weight class their in Rigo beats Mares.

People all over say he is more skilled than Mayweather, etc. yet Rigo won't move up a weight to display his skills....Mares is king.

you guys are on that "lebroncito" bandwagon.....

              rigo deserves better
There aren't enough Cubans living in the United States to create a decent fan-base, plain and simple. If you figure the percentage of serious boxing fans with the financial means to attend fights is, say, 1%, there would only be about 16,000 Cubans nationwide who could be counted on to show up at Rigo's fights. (Approximately 1.6 million Cubans living in the U.S.) Contrast that with potentially 300,000 Mexican/Mexican American boxing fans. (30,000,000 living in the U.S.)

That said, "El Chacal" is now a bona fide winner...and everybody loves a winner. Rigo can bring plenty of Cuban fans to fill a decent venue, if the fight is held in South Florida. I'm not talking about filling a stadium here, but few fighters are capable of doing that anyway. Radio City Music Hall only has a 6,000 person seating capacity. It was filled. I have no doubt Rigondeaux can attract at least that many people in Miami. It's a fine place for Guillermo to defend his belts.

Quigg/Frampton/Santa Cruz/Romero/Terrazas/Darchinyan/Mijares/Vasquez. It's a pretty young and unproven division, and Rigo could possibly be too good for the rest. He only has 12 fights though, so it's not like he can (or will) shy away from fighting them.

Rigo is the best fighter in the world outside of Floyd Mayweather.

Marquez Moved to fight the linial champ in Casamayor, I don't see why not move up and find the most compelling challenges.

Remember Marquez was in a similar situation, with no recognition or appreciation for his skills, but he challenged himself and went as far as to junp to wheig classes to challenge the P4P king. In other words if you dare to be great, you challenge your self to new hights.
