Why do so many people still buy PPV fights? It's 2013, not 1993

Anyone have an explanation for this?
Most people have friends or family that they watch with. You can't invite friends or family to watch a crappy looking live stream that will likely die at some point and the frame rate doesn't even show all the punchws. Come on, this is 2013, people have standards and are used to watching high quality video, not your laptop on your crusty bed.

PPVs are bad for the sport. As Ross Greenburg himself said:

"I can't tell you that pay-per-view helps the sport because it doesn't. It hurts the sport because it narrows our audience, but it's a fact of life. Every time we try to make an HBO World Championship Boxing fight, we're up against mythical pay-per-view numbers.

HBO doesn't make a lot of money from pay-per-view. There's usually a cap on what we can make. But the promoters and fighters insist on pay-per-view because that's where their greatest profits lie."

PPVs hurt boxing because they mean less people are going to see the best fighters in the sport. For a sport that already has limited exposure, it limits it even more. When you buy a PPV you're not helping boxing, you're making Schaefer/Oscar/Arum and Manny/Floyd that little bit richer.

I like to throw fight parties and I would look like a bum streaming a big ppv fight on a labtop or CPU. Fights are made for the big screen. Plus streams get interupted and im not with any interruptions while Im watching my boxing. also ilike to support my sport.

Even during the days of my black box, people would come over to watch fights.

The PPV deals are more of a get together deal for me and my friends. Somebody gets the fight, then people bring the food, booze, and there stankin asses. Usually a rotating type of deal.

I watched Mayweather-Guerrero on a stream, though. I was sick as a dog, and didn't feel like shelling out the money to watch it on the big TV by myself.

I only buy exciting fights and I never buy a backpedaling, pot shoting boring fighter.

Fights like Mayweather/Guerrero i don't buy. Basically any fight were the odds are more than 3-1 usually mean a one sided beating and are not entitled to my money.

But most of the time people have company when watching fights.
This is me right here. I only stream the fights some of my relatives, who are casuals, that involve fighters that aren't as famous
