Mares is one of boxing's under-appreciated boxers in the world. He's done more than some of the guys on the P4P and yet he's not on there.

Mares, Rigo and Donaire are now on ESPN's top 10 P4P list.


RESPECT to Mares. I know he is truly willing to fight anybody. Never doubted that. I knew he would beat Ponce but the way in which he did it really surprised me.

I still believe Rigo beats him fairly easy at any weight.

rigo is a superb boxer i love his style, but people just remeber how he schooled nonito marroquin and cordova gave him harder fights than nonito, styles make fights.

Umm Marroquin didn't give Rigo a tougher fight. Did Marroquin even win a round vs Rigo? He only landed 56 punches ALL fight so I'm guessing no. He also got KDed twice.

I don't want to sound like I'm doubting Rigondeaux, but I think Mares not only gives him a tough fight, but has a decent chance to win. I'd pick Rigo in a hard fight, 8-4 or 7-5. Mares always has a perfect gameplan.

I realize I may be completely underestimating Rigondeaux. I'm just sick of underestimating Mares. I picked him to beat Ponce and he still ended up surprising me.
