    • Mayweather vs Canelo: There is no competition for either boxer at their respective weights. Floyd would need a Tommy Hearns, Pernell Whittaker, JCC, SRL or SRR to really push him, (Willie Pep or Sandy Saddler too) his skill level is that high, and there are none of these type of fighters. He is efficient, calculating and too savvy.

Canelo simarly has proven adept and peerless at his weight, Angulo, Kirkland, Trout not in his class, only Martinez, Pacquioa and JCC jr remain money spinners or challenges. For real, another fan simply said though.. “would you risk a fight against a dangerous Jr Middle at the 2nd fight of a multi-million pound contract??? No!” So we can expect to see Floyd against another soft opponent. Only Martinez and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr remain out there for fan match up’s.

You won't even see a catchweight for this fight. I can imagine Floyd sitting down now with Broner laughing, teaching him how to ‘get that ...easy money’. In all fairness though, Floyd has taken earnings and manipulation of the fight game to another level, exploiting fighters and loopholes that racially too, nobody without the charisma of Ali, or Ferocity of Mike Tyson have managed too. Only Jack Dempsey, De La Hoya or Marciano have staggered gates or garnered appeal like he has. Yes he has cherry picked but what cherry picks!!!

He fought Gattii two years after the epic trilogy with Ward, when Gatti's immortal status and fan appeal had not yet been tainted again by loss. Judah was originally expected to reach the same heights as Floyd. Slick, vulnerable but a dangerous opponent being a southpaw, The Tszyu fight could be overlooked as young, petulant, arrogance exposed. The 1st Spinks loss was a points win against another good, bigger southpaw; the Baldomir loss was totally against the grain and was literally an upset of the year. De La Hoya, Hatton, Mosley and Cotto were past primes and several divisions moved of their youngest peak but yet again they were fighters with huge fan appeal, cross Atlantic with Hatton*, and fighters enriched by a legacy of hardcore bouts, and being gritty, somewhat immovable forces.

However, one thing I have never really heard critics of Mayweather say is how, this persona, the money Mayweather one, was actually even created by pressure the media and fans put on him. They part forced a demure, shy seeming kid at times (during interviews) and especially after the Sosa fight I think to part-develop his more disdainful, malevolent persona, this because he never got the ko’s.. This was then evidenced in the fight against N'Dou and Sosa, where after respectively against Augustus and Ndou he came out in style changes after being subjected to crowd derision to try and pummel opponents. Against Ortiz he simply resorted to being ruthless, flagrantly so after being fouled and against Cotto, he simply always believed he could destroy him and that he was too open. Floyd know this pressure is always on (especially with his new paymasters under the mega-money deal)Since then what Floyd has been able to go on and do in the sports is tremendous. I too agree that he has conveniently missed fighters.

However looking back at these fighters some of them he would clearly of beaten, or never went on to be peerless.

Margarito is now known as a cheat who resorted to weaponizing his gloves, a younger Cotto stamina wise and punch output would have been a problem, but was more vulnerable and the fight against stablemate Bruseles was an early litmus test for that, with Bruseles being trained by Cotto’s Uncle. Casamayor and Frietas both proved flawed and both lost to Corrales (R.I.P) who Floyd outclassed and dropped several times. Floyd's fight against ODLH and the move up in weight was motivated surely by the payday, although Floyd may have struggled to make weight. It is hypocritical and cynical that Floyd is not advancing for Canelo, more so than Manny. Especially after fighting Marquez at a catchweight and going for Cotto, I admit. In coming to the August twilight of his career, all I can say is that I have admired his ambition, achievements financially (especially for so many boxers that end up penniless and brain damaged) and doing it his own way. I have a healthy respect for that and for the fact that he can look after his family for generations to come; and I for one can live with that.

      • He'll make canelo look amateurish just like he does to everybody else. Canelo needs a stationary target. And we all know mayweather "who has not lost his legs" is no stationary target.if canelo throws those wild and slow over and rights. He will go to sleep.

where do yall get this he did not fight these guys in there prime from. After he beat Henry Bruseles in 2005 Arum said Cotto was not ready for Floyd at that time. That was at light welterweight and Mosley was fight at Jr middleweight then. Arum did not bring up Margarito's name for fighting Floyd until after Floyd decided to leave top rank. I really dont think there is a reason to get into the pac argument b/c it will go nowhere. everyone has there opinion about that.

Floyd rarely fights the guy that the public is calling for, it's the root of everyone's frustrations with him. He would beat Alvarez if they fought in September- if he waits longer that fight only gets tougher for him (because it's at 154.) Floyd's speed is going to be less in another year, and even more so in another 2 years.

I think logically he should take that fight ASAP and get the W. He can cruise on easier guys after that and take 100% less crap from everybody watching and paying for his PPV's.

All that said- I won't be surprised when he pulls out a guy like Amir Khan, Danny Garcia- or one of these names at 140 instead of looking north to 154. Get ready for it.

Its ****** and I get his point .. The whole reason he is even fighting at 147 is because of this same ****.. Its not that people want to see him fight, they want him to fight fighter 20 to 30 above him.. Hater fans want nothing more then him to fight at a disadvantage in order to give his opponent a chance at winning, even if it means the opponents is taking peds . No other fighter in history has been ask to fight fighter heaver then themselves .. Pac has asked every fighter to come down in weight where floyd fought Oscar and Cotto at 154 no catch weight .. Now it Alverz and Sergio Martinez .. Both fighter inter the ring at 175 but this is the risk and advantages fans want floyd to give fighter in order to make fights more entertaining, and up the chances for him to loose . What a crock of **** from these soft ***** as fans.

              • Floyd is can fight who he wants from this point on and never have to worry about proving anything. There are a lot people that are very desperate to see him lose. The reality is that there's no one out there that can beat him. The people don't really think Canelo can beat Floyd, but they are so desperate to see someone besides Mayweather at the top. Pac didn't stand a chance. Turned down $40M when he had never fought for more that $15M. Canelo wants that mega US exposure. People say he's a star now but he needs that Mayweather fight: win lose or draw--he still wins. Canelo is trying to take some of Mayweather's eyeballs. For the record, he's not good enough to beat Floyd. Canelo is three to five years from his prime. He's trying to use Mayweather as a short cut.

                  • Canelo will easily surpass Mayweather in ppvs IF he keeps winning.

Guaranteed Mayweather will look for Canelo and will take a lesser petcentage than Canelo in purse. Evidence of that will start with the loww ppv buy for Guerrero vs Mayweather and Mayweathet's September fight CANCELATION.
