You can argue that it's not PPV worthy, but really many worse fights have headlined and Pac is and always will be very popular, so unless you want HBO to destroy their yearly budget on a Pac v Forbes type fight then this is the reality of the situation. Even under sporting terms vs Rios is a fair fight, both coming off loses and again Rios was not knocked out cold like Pac was.
As a manny fan you see it this way and that is understandable. You want to see manny rios because you think manny will ko rios-thats what you and the manny fans want.

But for the rest of us that are not just manny fans are asking why fight another JWW coming off a loss? Just because he got KO is not a valid excuse. Just because rios lost isn't valid either. THis is an easy fight for manny.

I understand the point about HBO wanting a return on its investment. Rios will stand there and punch and there will be action.

At least Ghost has beaten 2 quality ww's before he fought floyd at ww.

It will be a fun fight, Rios or Alvarado. Most fighters coming of a KO like that would fight a bum off TV. Different standards for the big name fighters, but this no worse then Cotto fighting Foreman or something. Rios is limited but he is still a good fighter.

Bradley and especially Marquez are to blame here. They didn't want the fight. 147 is a wasteland and I would much rather Pac fight Rios then Alexander or Brook.

I don't know if you can blame them only. They wanted more coin. Now I agree niether should get 50/50 but they refused when they didn't get the deal they wanted.

Manny has taken same position with floyd- wanting 50/50 when he doesn't deserve it. Obviously he's gonna get closer to 50/50 than JMM or Bradley. Notice how Koncz is now saying manny will take less.

I agree GBP has better opponents for manny right now.

I can understand Marquez (even if 50/50 is still a stretch), but Bradley? I guess he knew he would get a decent paycheck against Marquez but i'm sure that it would be less then re-matching Pac. Both of them want to win that fight so they can get a better deal against Pac in the spring, pretty big gamble, especially for Bradley. Marquez v Pac will always be there, but if Bradley is destroyed (not impossible judging by his last performance) then he will look like a fool. I like Marquez v Bradley, so i'm not mad although Pac v Marquez would have been the biggest fight of 2013.

I agree-huge gamble but from TR's perspective Manny/JMM is always there. If Tim beats JMM it makes the rematch much more credible.

They've done it 4 times and frankly-other than rd 1 of the 1st fight where manny had him down 3 times JMM -In the opinion of the majority of writers/media won the remainder of the 1st fight and the next 2 then had the KO. depending on if Canelo v floyd happens manny/jmm will be the 2nd or 3rd biggest selling ppv in 2014.
