So put that in perspective when his opponets may take a month off and gain some extra weight, Floyd would put on the same pounds as other fighters if not for his dedication to stay close to his weight class.

Floyd is the fighter who has fought at the bigger weight and has fought the bigger fighters. Coming back down to fight a welterweight is a big difference than having to fight a jr. middleweight.
Well Lucas is well into the 150's on fight night, so is Rios and Alvarado. Devon is probably about the same size. Guerrero is even a couple lbs bigger than Floyd on fight night now. I mean, Floyd isn't smaller than those guys.

They may have been in the 150's but it isn't the same when you have another guy that may be in the 160's and you feel the pressure, the strength advantage from the other guy. Floyd has felt the differnce in fighting guys bigger than him at 154 so coming down {to fight a fighter who weighs a little more than him but isn't as strong as a real 154 pounder is the difference am talking about. This is why Floyd is so strong as a welterweight, he's used to fighting and probably sparring with bigger fighters.

Those guys you mentioned although may weight in the 150's are not as strong as a real 154 pound fighter. They are just putting back water weight to their bodies no mass.

          If Floyd does.....cherry pick!!!
Exactly, it is a cherry pick. Cos Floyd keeps everyone waiting for the announcment for his long awaited return, making us believe we are in for something special.......he expects a drum roll of anticipation, "and the amazing opponent is, you wont be dissapointed, the one and only legendary Ggggguuuueerrrooooooo"

Guerrero is someone Pac would fight 2 times in a year with no 2 layoffs. Pac would probably fight Guerrero take 4 months of and then fight JMM and give Guerrero a rematch after beating JMM four months earlier.

Floyd has to deliver more cos he fights less, and tries to make the announcement of his opponent a bigger deal than it actually is. If you want it to be a big deal fight a big deal opponent and not someone anyone else would fight, and stop trying to make out you are going to deliver something special when you arent.!!!
Fight Canelo....SSM did without singing and dancing and boasting about it.

Unlike Pacquiao, he came up two weight classes and didn't fight the fighter drained at a catchweight. He also did it naturally too..

The people probably think it's a cherry pick because it's not his 154 WBC mandatory, who is just as worthy and brings in more money.

I'm pretty sure Canelo is next for Floyd, if all goes well.
Some guys choose to forget this.

Not only is he the mandatory, he's a live dog coming off a big win, and not a journeyman on a long losing streak.

Floyd thinks it is a cherry-pick because Guerrero is coming up from lightweight and only recently fought at welterweight. But Guerrero is a good fighter and the more I have looked at him, the more I think he has a shot. I watched his fight against Michael Katsidis and then contrasted that by watching a replay of Mayweather-DelaHoya.

Guerrero fought with tremendous intensity in that fight a landed an amazing number of big flush punches on Katsidis, who showed tremendous heart to make to the final bell.

Mayweather - DLH on the other, replayed my emotions when I saw it live on PPV. It didn't live up to the hype. Mayweather made a phony threat that he "would **** DLH up", which Broner now mimics. He fought very defensively and landed few telling blows. It was not an intense fight. He completely failed to deliver on the phony threat. Both came out unmarked.

Mayweather doesn't want hard fights. He won't fight Canelo because he thinks it will be a hard fight and his fanboys will award him a decisive beatdown in fantasy fight land.

I think Guerrero may be a hard fight. But there aren't many options for Floyd since he ducked Pacman. He thinks Guerrero is small and lacking in footwork, but Guerrero is filling out well and his boxing skills are above average. I am convinced he will fight like the fate of the Earth depends on him winning.

I won't buy the fight because I will never support Floyd financially anymore, but an older Floyd may have his work cut out.

You clearly don't understand how they're trying to build the fight.

Before he fought Trout, only Canelo's most ardent fans believed he could beat Floyd. Most boxing fans and analysts weren't prepared to say or write that Canelo would be Floyd's biggest test. He hadn't really proven himself against the best of the division.

ONLY the Floyd haters and Canelo fans believe he should fight Canelo right away because Canelo seems to pose a bigger challenge than everyone else out there. Nothing wrong with that ...

However, unlike regular fans with very little if any business acumen, the promoters would allow a fighter like Canelo to build his star quality and drawing power predicated on solid wins, and when it reaches its peak and the fans are clamouring for it, will they then unleash their marketing power to promote Mayweather vs Canelo.

A fight which can no doubt be made with Arum out of the picture.
