sergio lost that fight. he got beat up and physically dominated by murray. classic home cooking at its finest with the 2nd knockdown not counted.

in the end, murray has himself to blame. sergio was there for the taking and he just didnt throw enough punches. he was way to conservative. murray should have had ko on his mind. he would have gotten it too if he just threw more punches.

I see there's a nice conglomerate of trolls in this thread. Anyway, here are my thoughts on the fight:

I dare anyone to rewatch the fight and tell me Sergio didn't at least win rounds 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 11, and 12. Sergio was more active in those rounds and was also throwing the harder shots.

If you actually review the fight you'll see that Murray hardly threw or landed a punch in rounds 1-4. In fact, in round four Sergio landed a hard overhand left on Murray's face while Martin's best punch of the round came from a low blow. lol.

In rounds 7, 11, and 12 Sergio landed multiple jabs and overhand lefts while pushing the action.

Rounds 5 and 9 were toss up rounds.

I'm going off memory. Maybe I meant last 2. I had Murray winning clearly though.

7-5 Martinez but most of the rounds he won were close and the ones he lost he lost it clearly

I had Sergio winning rounds 1,2,3, 11 and 12. Murray won 7 round to 5 plus scored a KD (should have been 2). As a judge I would even be inclined to give round 10 as a 10-8 round for Murray as the slip was a blatant bad call. So on that basis I had it 115-111.
Murray was robbed and for the second fight in a row I was disgusted with the open scoring scorecards, how did all 3 judges have Sergio up after 8 when Murray dominated after round 3?

I had Murray winning 114-113, and that was with me making an effort in trying to see it from the point of view of those who scored it for Martinez and excluding the so-called slip which should have been called a knock down.

Martinez was not at his best but I feel people are getting a little carried away. Murray for one was clearly too big and too strong for Sergio. He was literally jumping into and walking through Sergio's jabs, straight left hands and right hooks. The size of Murray's back in itself was a bit absurd. That guy has some of the most overdeveloped musculature I can recall for a man his size. Again, his back was utterly massive and rippling with muscle. Reminded me of the roided up versions of Vargas and Roy Jones.

Martinez won if you automatically give him every remotely close round. But obviously that not how fights are scored.
